Downtown is Alight and Bustling for the Holiday Season – Share the Joy!
From CCB Plaza to Black Wall Street Gardens, Five Points Plaza and Durham Central Park, downtown is gleaming with holiday lights and filled with events and holiday happenings.
We've brought back the Points of Light map to help visitors find all the sights. Have you decorated your storefront, balcony or outdoor space? Email us pics, and we’ll add you to the map.

$10 Bonus SpendaBull Gift Card Extended Through December 24
Thanks to our downtown merchants, SpendaBull is now accepted in 50 shops, venues and restaurants. As the holiday season continues, corporations are using the card as a great way to support multiple businesses downtown. More than $7,500 in SpendaBull cards were purchased just last month.
But we know those dollars don't benefit our businesses until the cards are redeemed. So, courtesy of Durham Magazine, we're extending our $10 bonus card offer to the first 100 customers to redeem their SpendaBull cards through December 24. To take advantage of the offer, customers who redeem a SpendaBull card just need to snap a photo of their receipt and email it to SpendaBull@downtowndurham.com. (One bonus card per customer, not per purchase.)
We'll be encouraging the public to spend their SpendaBulls through advertising and social media posts to get the more than $36,000 in outstanding SpendaBull dollars into the hands of downtown retailers, restaurants and venues over the next few weeks.
If you're a downtown merchant, and would like to accept the card, please let us know.

It’s a Newton family tradition born 11 years ago at the Blue Note Grill. All those Newtons in one place, doing music and such – Christmas Sweater contests – festive costumes – little children singing on the stage – and good old fashioned rock n roll, made for a great night that has now become a beloved and anticipated Blue Note Grill and Triangle tradition.

Winter is on its way! Ambassador Team Update: December 2021
|
|
Erik Nystrom, Clean and Safe Operations Manager
|
|
Happy Holidays from your Ambassador Team! At lunch recently, my crew and I talked about how quickly the year has gone by and how surprised we are that the holidays are upon us. I always find that time passes quickly when you’re busy, and these past few weeks were no exception.
Leaf cleaning season downtown typically runs from Halloween up to early December, and with a string of dry, cool and windy days during the last part of November, Mother Nature wasted no time dropping leaves this year. The team has been very busy keeping up with all the fallen leaves and I’m very pleased with the progress they’ve made! As of the beginning of December, we are very close to being finished with this annual event.
|
|
I’d also like to take a moment to introduce to you a new member to our team. Tim Hester joined us in November and is settling into his new role wonderfully! Tim was referred and recommended by someone presently on the team, and he has quickly shown us that bringing him on board was a great decision. His landscaping and cleaning experience are a wonderful asset to the team. Say hello to Tim the next time you see him making his rounds in the Durham Central Park area or working with Nate or myself on various cleaning projects. We are excited to have you on our team, Tim!
And finally, from all of us on The Ambassador Team, we wish you a safe and joyous holiday season. We look forward to seeing you out and about, enjoying everything our unique downtown has to offer!
