"IMAGES" Photographic Art Gallery
March 2023
Dear friends,
Welcome to my monthly "PHOTOBLOG" newsletter, which I have been publishing for several years and have enjoyed sending to friends and clients in order to keep them informed of my current photographic interests, new works, upcoming exhibits and other Gallery events.
A new "subject" is at the center of each Newsletter, with which I present a short series of pertinent images along with any needed description and details, in order to allow my viewers to become more actively part of the discussion.
Most of the imagery displayed will be eventually on view at "IMAGES" Art Gallery, 14406 Detroit Rd., Lakewood, and of course I always welcome anyone's comments and interest in my work; the Gallery is open throughout the week, often by appointment, and I would be very happy to extend to all an invitation to contact me to arrange a personal visit for you.
Any of these and other images could be custom printed/framed and become part of your art collection, based on your specifications and desires.
Over the years my "recipients" list has gradually grown, thanks to your interest and support, and I encourage you to share this "PHOTOBLOG" with friends and art lovers in your circles.
More of my photography on view at www.mellinophotography.com.
A sincere "thank you" for your interested attention,
Marcello Mellino.
As a photography enthusiast and practitioner, I have always loved and admired the art of "monochrome" images, where the possible distraction from natural colors is taken away, leaving only the image with its strength being solely in the composition and the conceptual process involved. Hence, the difficulty is to choose the proper one to carry forward the idea initially visualized, and then to craft all that is visually needed to reach the desired impact.
Here are several monochromes of mine I have enjoyed in time, some of which you might have seen before; is there a "title", or a thematic connection linking these images together? Yes, I thought of RESILIENCE as I grouped them, with the common denominator being the strength and the often secular capacity of trees to survive even the worst storms and continue to grow and live. I actually love trees as a photographic subject and very often take time to portray them, here both in sepia and monochromatic versions.
So glad you are taking the time to savor these images today; enjoy the moment and take a peak out the window, even if it's still Winter out there!
A variety of trees and circumstances, but mostly portrayed "bare", as they await for Spring to arrive and bring back their colorful "coats"; yet, this is the best time to study and admire trees architecture and intimal structure, before they would disappear within the new foliage. Local as well as from remote regions, these are all beautiful creations of Nature, and all well worth admiring as they uniquely frame places and moments.
To all my best wishes for a safe, very healthy, enjoyable, productive and "sunny" Spring season...which here in Cleveland is really a BIG thing!

My photographic exhibit "Bella Italia" will soon open at the Art Gallery within the Gates Mills Library and will be on display and open to the public for the next two months...stop by when you can!
A series of wonderful botanical prints from Cleveland artist Mickey Mencin will be on display on the walls of the Blackbird bakery and cafe' for the next two months; as some of you might know, I have had the pleasure, for the last few years, to coordinate the art works being displayed at the bakery, the source of great breads, sweets and perfect cappuccino, and I would encourage you to take the time for a well worth visit soon...buon appetito!

Marcello.
