TODAY'S THEME IS
#SpeakWorldLanguages

People who speak more than one language are more creative and better at planning and complex problem solving-great skills for school and work! Help students explore what they can do with multilingual skills!
THREE WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE TODAY

1) T here are many deficit-based myths about immigrant families and English language learners. Because of this,  OneAmerica  has developed a  Speak World Languages activity for middle and high school classroom and an accompanying presentation for educators on how they can support bilingualism.

2) Visit OneAmerica's  speakyourlanguage.org for resources for educators, families, and students on the power of bilingualism!

3) If you are multilingual, how have you used language skills in your work? Share on social media and tag #SpeakWorldLanguages

PATHWAYS BEYOND HIGH SCHOOL

Each day this week, we'll share #beyondhighschool journeys of local alumni, plus their expert insights about exploring college and career opportunities! Consider sharing these printable pages with your students each day of DiscoverU: Speak World Languages Day insights and more stories from former students.

YAMARA'S ADVICE FOR STUDENTS:

1. Make sure you have a clear understanding of ALL possible majors at your school of choice and that you know how they might be used in grad school. I did not think certain majors were linked to certain career fields.

2. Choose something versatile and if you don't, try to minor or double major in something that can help you find a career upon graduating.

3. Take advantage of your summers and try to be involved in job shadowing as early as you can. This helps you get experience and knowledge.
