Costa Rugby team starts season with victory over Redondo!
The Mira Costa Mustang Rugby Team opened the 2018 campaign with a complete dis­mantling of their crosstown rivals from Redondo Union HS. After graduating 13 of their start­ing 15 from last year, the Mustangs have had to seriously rebuild their Varsity team. Girls Water Polo starts Bay League with 2 wins!
It was a very successful vacation break for Mira Costa Girls Water Polo. On December 21st, the Varsity team overwhelmed Capo Valley with a score of 13-4. The following day, the girls got together with twenty former Mira Costa Water Polo teammates who took on the Varsity team for the annual Alumni Game and breakfast. Girls Soccer takes 3rd place in South Holiday Tournament!
Costa Girls Varsity soccer team took 3rd place at the South Holiday Tournament with an impressive performance, losing only to runner-up Marymount. The team dominated Pool A, without allowing a goal in either game and qualifying for the championship bracket. They defeated Granada Hills 1-0 in the first elimination game, then lost to Marymount 2-1. They beat West 1-0 in the third place game.
Boys Soccer looks forward to start of Bay League season!
The Varsity Boys’ Soccer team finished up their pre-season on Friday, Jan. 5th with a 1-0 win over visiting Lawndale. With that result, the team’s record stands at 6-2-2 going into Bay League play starting Tuesday, Jan. 9th. In the shut-out victory over Lawndale, standouts were the 3 senior captains: goalkeeper Andrew Fasano, midfielder Keyan Torabi and forward Robert Cook. Robert scored the goal with a header from a nicely placed free kick from senior Alex deSouza .
Costa Choir students qualify for Spotlight Quarter Finals!
Mira Costa Choirs is proud to announce 6 Costa students have qualified for the LA Music Center¹s Spotlight Competition Quarter Finals (see below).
Southern California High School students compete in the following categories: acting, ballet, classical instrumental, classical voice, jazz instrumental, non-classical dance and non-classical voice. This is much more than a competition.. Read More
Girls Basketball prepared for Bay League after playing in
Holiday Tournament!
All three Costa teams have been playing lots of basketball! Prior to Winter Break, the JV and Frosh/Soph teams participated in the Narbonne Tournament. The Frosh/Soph team played hard and continued to improve each game. The JV Team came in 4th place, playing aggressively each game and are also continuing to improve.

Costa Boys Basketball is finalist in
Torrey Pines Holiday Classic Tournament!
The Mira Costa Varsity Boys Basketball placed 2nd in the Mayors Division at the Torrey Pines Holiday Classic Tournament in San Diego. It was a solid effort by the Mustangs, who just fell short to Sonora 62 to 53 in the Championship game. Morgan Clark scored 25 points in the semi-final win and was named All-Tournament. Wrestling Updates
The Boys Wrestling team participated in the Tournament of Champions at Cerritos College. It was one of the toughest
tournaments of the year. This year it was stacked with more state ranked teams and kids than previous years.  Costa had two wrestlers that took 8th place:
Will Curtis (Sr) 145 lbs – 8th Place
Joseph Smith (Sr) 182 lbs – 8th Place
Girls Golf celebrates winning season!
Girls Golf celebrated their winning season with an end of year banquet.
For the 7th year in a row the girls team were Bay League Champions, sending 4 Varsity players ahead to CIF.
Dance team begins year with new Dance floor!
Santa and the Chanukah Fairy teamed up this year to bring the Dance Team a new Dance floor over the holidays! The Dance Team spent the last few months aggressively fundraising and with the support of the School Board, Costa Administration and some hard work from the Costa maintenance department the girls are returning to a proper dance floor.
