The Baptism of the Lord

A voice cries out: In the desert prepare the way of the LORD! Make straight in the wasteland a highway for our God! Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill shall be made low; the rugged land shall be made a plain, the rough country, a broad valley. Then the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together; for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. ~ Isaiah 40
A Message From Fr. Gonyo
Dear Parishioners and Friends;

Our Christmas season now draws to a close as we celebrate the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord.  We began with the story of the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, marveled at the visit of the Magi traveling from afar to visit this newborn King, and now hear of his baptism by John followed by a voice from heaven that proclaimed... "You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”  Luke 3

Jesus would soon command his own disciples to baptize, preach the Gospel, and proclaim the Good News.  By virtue of Baptism, God generously allows us to enter into a permanent relationship with Christ as a child of God.  Jesus who is our "...wonder councilor, God Hero, Father forever, Prince of Peace. His dominion is vast and forever peaceful from David's throne and over his kingdom, which he confirms and sustains by judgement and justice both now and forever, a zeal of the Lord of Hosts will do this, the Word of God."  (Isaiah 9)

Family Faith Formation program is this weekend.  We will have some great music and the renewal of our Baptismal promises at the 11:00AM mass followed by lunch and classes.  We are following all necessary school safety protocols during Faith Formation, including mask wearing.

May God bless you this week!
