3rd Sunday of Epiphany

King of Peace's 48th Anniversary

Sermon Title:

"God's Chosen People"

Sacred Text:

1 Peter 2:4-10

Worship (in-person and online): 11:15 AM

A Word from Renae

This Sunday we will celebrate the 48th Anniversary of King of Peace MCC. On January 19, 1975 King of Peace was birthed. I did the math to see how old I was then and what I remember of that year. (Maybe you just did that too if it wasn’t before your time!) I was in high school and so the most important things to me were sports and music. There was so much good music in 1975! It always amazes me that you can hear a song and it can transport you back to that time in your mind. This Sunday we will take a stroll back through a little history of KOP and celebrate God’s presence with us every step of the way!

Come early to share a piece of Anniversary cake in the Social Hall and get the party started!

Blessings,

Rev. Renae

The Pastoral Search Team would like to thank everyone who took the time to fill out the survey. They have reviewed the survey results and are using that information to work on the interview questions!

If you have any pics of King of Peace activities over the years or about the interesting things to do or go in St. Pete, please send pics! Send pics for anything that you believe would make our next pastor want to join us! Send to [email protected].

Take a few minutes each day this week to pray this prayer for our church, our Pastoral Search Team, and our next Senior Pastor:

God of Hope, we are grateful for our church and the ministry you call us to do in the world. We join our hearts in prayer in this season of discernment as we search for our next Senior Pastor. We trust that you are already preparing the person who will lead us into the days ahead. Be with our Pastoral Search Team and give them wisdom and guidance from your Spirit as they do their work. May we be a place where faith and real life intersect for healing, hope and service through God’s love.

We pray in the name of Jesus our Savior. Amen.

February Book Study

Starting Wednesday, February 1st, at 11 am join us for an in-person look at Father Richard Rohr's book Falling Upward. Rohr helps us understand the tasks of the two halves of life and explains that those who have fallen, failed, or "gone down" are the only ones who understand "up." Most of us tend to think of the second half of life as largely about getting old, dealing with health issues, and letting go of life, but the whole thesis of this book is exactly the opposite. What looks like falling down can largely be experienced as "falling upward."

Classes will be on Wednesdays, February 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd at 11 am. You can purchase the book through Amazon or wherever you buy books. To RSVP, sign up in the foyer or email Rev. Lorraine at [email protected].

King of Peace's Soul Food Dinner is back! Mark your calendars for Wednesday, February 15th at 6:30 pm. We'll meet in the Fellowship Hall for a great comfort meal. Then we will move into the sanctuary at 7:30 pm and fill our souls with upbeat and energetic gospel praise.

Tickets for the catered meal are $10 and will be sold until Sunday, February 5th. Come for food and to feed your soul! It will be a great night that you won't want to miss.

If you are interested in helping with this dinner, please plan to attend a meeting this Sunday, immediately after worship in the foyer.

Save the date! We will hold our annual Ash Wednesday Service, starting the season of Lent on February 22nd at 7 pm. Ash Wednesday helps remind us that God makes beautiful things out of the dust, preparing us for the resurrection power found on Easter!

Although it's still a few months away, save the date for a night of southern gospel music presented by our music team. More information TBD!!
