Grant Rd and Jefferson Park- Where is the green space ?
1200 and 1300 Edison will be exposed to Grant
The Grant Road Task Force met in June and reviewed the changes to the 30% plans for Phases 5 and 6 (that's us). What they discussed:
  • The adjacent neighborhoods will have spaces set aside for monument signs. Each neighborhood needs to present a set of plans for the monument sign and pay for its construction and installation.
  • There will be more landscaping overall, though it is unclear how the remnants will be handled.
  • There will be more landscaping on the remnant parcels. TDOT will contract to have the remnants "stabilized" and maintained for 2 years.
  • Still UNCLEAR - "POSSIBILITIES" What will neighborhoods have to fund?
  • The number of acquisitions (i.e. # of homes business that will be purchased) has decreased.
  • There will be no "Michigan Left" at Country Club and Grant.
  • There will be not be a special left turn lane from Mountain onto Grant.
  • There will be no turns into SAMOS on Cherry to eliminate the traffic caused by Salpointe High School.
NORTH SIDE OF GRANT- OPPOSITE JEFFERSON PARK

ALL 5G SHOULD BE "CO-LOCATED" i.e. the 5G should be attached to an existing pole. If you see digging or receive a notice (on your porch, etc.), e-mail, call the Ward III office. They are pursuing the issue and requesting "co-location" of 5G - i.e. put them on existing TEP poles--not another pole next to residences! Matt Kopec, Ward III - Matt.Kopec@tucsonaz.gov

Pima County Board of Supervisors Office
Pima County Board of Supervisors, District 5, Adelita Grijalva
• Elvira Din, Staff Assistant, 760-234-8567, email:elvira.suarezdin@pima.gov
• Samantha Neville, (520) 412-1320, Samantha.neville@pima.gov.
Pima County Updates:
PEEPS (Pima County Early Childhood Education Program): Funding Passed 3-2. Supervisor Grijalva, an education advocate and strong supporter of early childhood education, voted in favor of Pima County’s critical investment in PEEPS. Ensuring quality early childhood education has far-reaching benefits, and improves students’ quality of life overall. Early childhood education also reduces people’s involvement with corrections facilities, law enforcement, the health care system, as well as their need for poverty/eviction assistance, all of which are county responsibilities.
Home Sharing Pilot Program Approved for Funding:
The Board approved the inclusion of $200,000 in the Final FY22 budget to fund the Year 1 pilot of a Homesharing Program in Pima County, administered by the Pima Council on Aging, which pairs aging adults with people who can provide assistance to them in exchange for reduced or free rent. As stated in the memorandum provided to the board by County Administrator Chuck Huckelberry, “Pima County is experiencing a significant affordable housing crisis, with older adults greatly affected.” The Home-Sharing Pilot Program is a solution with much potential.
Adelita Grijalva's Office, District 5, Updates:
The District 5 office is currently working on a Strategic Plan with local labor leaders and experts in environment, education, and housing, focusing on what Supervisor Grijalva, her office, and the Board can be doing to improve District 5 and Pima County. The plan is currently in development, but we will be sharing our plan in the near future!
You can always visit adelitasgrijalva.com for board meeting recaps and the newsletter. Our next BoS Meeting is Tuesday July 6th at 9am. Our next newsletter comes out on Friday July 2nd. If you have any questions, please email district5@pima.gov or call 724-8126
