The Message this Week

Preaching Text: Jeremiah 18:1-11

How we respond to the prophets - Part Two. Bloom where you are planted! Last week we saw a king reject God's word in the clearest way. This week, we are invited to respond by settling in and letting God do work in us. Seems easy...but we all know that it is not!

Holy God, You have planted us in this place...right where we are. Help us to see where we need nourishment and where we can bear fruit. In Jesus' name, Amen.

WONDERING...

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith.

What if I am not happy with the place where I am planted?

• Help us to trust in your plans for us and for the world, especially when we cannot seem to muster that trust on our own.
• Help us to tend and care for your beautiful creation, that we might help bring about your plans for its wholeness and flourishing.
• Help us to elect leaders of integrity and compassion, that we might help bring about your plans for justice and equity for all people.
• Help us to care for our bodies and for those whose bodies fail them in some way, that we might help bring about your plans for healing and wholeness for all people, especially Ken & Sue Issel, and Ric Tornberg.
• Help us to work to end war and all forms of violence, oppression, slavery, and economic disparity, that we might help bring about your plans for liberation for all peoples.
• Help us to remember the saints who have gone before us, that we might help bring about your plans to reunite us with them in glory at the feast that has no end.
• We surround with our prayers the family of Chris Gimre who passed last Wednesday, June 25.

Trusting in your unending grace for all that you have made, we lift these and the prayers of our hearts to your loving care. Amen.

We surround with our prayers the family of Shirley Erickson who died Monday, May 12. A service will be held at Geneva Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 5 at 11AM. A visitation will be held at the church at 10AM. A luncheon will follow the service in Fellowship Hall.
