Celebrate the Fourth of July on the Village Green at 4:00 p.m. with live music. The day's highlights include a community-wide Patriotic Stroll and a free evening concert.

Presbyterians and American Indepedence The Rev. George Duffield (1732-1790) left his role as pastor at Third Presbyterian Church in Philadelphia to serve as Chaplain of the Pennsylvania Militia and co-Chaplain of the Continental Congress. Sixty men from his congregation joined him in the army; their collective service earned Third Presbyterian the nickname “Church of the Patriots.”

Dealing with the Heat

If you have any issues getting or staying cool during this week's high temperatures, the Main Buildling is open each day starting at 8:30 a.m. This includes Friday and Saturday, when our offices are closed.

You are welcome to come relax in the Library, Burris Gathering Space or Cafe.

We have air conditioning, ice, and water. Don't be unsafe when we have the space and the cool air!

This Sunday

The 10:00 a.m. (remember- 10:00 a.m. only during the summer months) worship service will be in person in our Sanctuary and also live-streamed to Facebook and YouTube including a Live Chat feature.

Free childcare is provided.

Our Davidson College intern, Ben Council, will be preaching his sermon, entitled "Called to Wonder," based on Zechariah 9:9-12 and Matthew 11:25-30.

The music will be provided by David Brinson, Sarah Lynch, and the Music Team.

Sunday School Classes for Adults meet at 9:00 a.m.

Maloney Class will meet in Room 215. Van Lear Logan teaches on A Gentile Whose Faith Jesus Commended, Matthew 8:5–13.

Pines Class will meet in the Living Room on the Pines campus. Richie King teaches on A Gentile Whose Faith Jesus Commended, Matthew 8:5–13.

In Memoriam

DCPC member, Fred Bond, died June 17^th. Please keep his wife, Peggy, and their daughter, Chris Ahearn, and son, Allan Bond, and their families in your prayers. A memorial service is scheduled for Sunday July 5^th at 2:00 in Lingle Chapel. You can learn more about Fred here.

Book Donations Needed

James Dula, a member of Scout Troop 58 here in Davidson and DCPC member, is working on his Eagle Scout project to benefit the Davidson Housing Coalition. As part of his project, he is collecting new or gently used children’s books to supply a Little Free Library he is installing at the DHC. If you would consider donating books, please place them in James’ bin on the front porch of the Congregation House.

We did not get to worship at the lake Memorial Day weekend, but we still have a day of fun planned at the Davidson College Lake Campus (exit 31 in Mooresville) planned for Saturday, August 1, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Whether this is an “almost-back-to-school” outing or a “I still have a month left” event, members and friends of all ages are invited. You bring a lunch if you want to eat, the Fellowship Committee will have your drinks. Swimming, walking, paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing and corn hole are all on the docket, free of charge.
