Breaking Ground at F.M. Law Park

Have you noticed a giant excavator in front of the clubhouse at F.M. Law Park?

June 25 was a big day for our organization as we celebrated 80 years of our parent company, Houston Golf Association, and broke ground on the future Chevron Center for Education and Golf at F.M. Law Park. Thanks to Chevron’s generous lead gift, this new space will create even more opportunities for FTGH participants. We’re so grateful to everyone who’s been a part of this journey and helped make an impact for the next generation.

Pebble Beach, Here We Come!

Congratulations to Gabriela, Leslie, and Ryan, who have been selected to compete in the PURE Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach—an official PGA TOUR Champions event that recognizes First Tee participants who exemplify character, leadership, and service.

Throughout the week, they will compete alongside PGA TOUR Champions professionals while experiencing unforgettable mentorship and leadership opportunities. We’re excited to see them represent First Tee Greater Houston and showcase what it means to be a HTX game changer!

In case you missed it, FTGH participant and 2025 PURE First Tee winner Margaret Kerr was also featured in the 2026 field announcement this week on the Golf Channel—another incredible milestone highlighting the impact of our program.

Good luck to all of the fantastic players competing this year, and a special shoutout to Ryan, Gabriela, and Leslie as they take on this remarkable opportunity!

LPGA Leadership Academy

Congratulations to our FTGH girls who were selected to attend the LPGA Leadership Academy! This two-day experience uses golf to build confidence, strengthen decision-making, and develop leadership skills. Through on-course stations, activities, and reflection, participants are encouraged to take on challenges, set goals, and find their voice—all while enjoying the game they love.

Congratulations to Caris Reyes on being selected for both First Tee Game Changers Academy and the First Tee Leadership Summit—two incredible leadership experiences that recognize outstanding teens from across the country.

We're also proud to announce that Coach Nick will join her at the Game Changers Academy next week as an alumni chaperone. What a great example of how our alumni network continues to give back and shape the next generation of Game Changers! (Hint hint to all our recent high school grads and rising seniors to join the First Tee Alumni Network.)

This event pairs FTGH participants with a parent, guardian, or coach for a two-player scramble format that encourages teamwork and strategy.

All First Tee – Greater Houston members (ages 7–18) are welcome to register and compete.

New to tournament golf? This is the event for you! Our First Tee Division tournaments are designed for beginners and intermediate players alike.

October 19

Join us this fall for a 9-hole walking tournament at F.M. Law Park benefiting the youth of First Tee – Greater Houston.

Enjoy a memorable day on the course with lunch and beverages provided, while supporting the F.M. Law Park Capital Campaign.

Thanksgiving/Christmas

We are hosting Holiday Break Camps at Memorial Park! Designed for youth ages 7–17, campers will build their golf skills through fun, hands-on rotations in putting, chipping, full swing, and on-course play. Each camp runs Monday–Wednesday from 9:00am–12:00pm.
