Dear Friends,

We would like to take this opportunity to offer heartfelt thanks to all of you — our donors across the globe — for your ongoing support. We are a volunteer-based organization with an important mission to support the activities of our Spiritual Director, Jetsunma Tenzin Palmo, and the continued practice of Tibetan Buddhism.

As we celebrate Jetsunma’s 81st Birthday this month, we are reminded of just how much her life’s work has elevated the position of Buddhist nuns and helped to garner resources to enable them to study and practice.

In this newsletter we feature the first ever installation of four Khenmos at Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery which took place in December 2023. In October of this year, DGL Nunnery celebrates its Silver Jubilee, marking the 25th Anniversary of the nunnery. We also want to highlight the importance of the Dongyu Gatsal Ling Endowment, which secures support for the nuns and the operation of the nunnery for decades to come.

At this time of heightened global strife and suffering, the Buddha’s teachings are more important than ever. We offer prayers for Peace in the world and thank you for being part of these meaningful endeavors.

In gratitude and with best wishes to all of you,

DGLI Board of Directors

DGL Nunnery is 25

It’s hard to believe, but twenty five years have passed since the founding of Dongyu Gatsal Ling Nunnery in 1999! In October, we will be celebrating this anniversary at the nunnery, which will include the performance of traditional Tibetan Buddhist ritual dances and other activities.

We’ve included a few pictures below documenting the early stages of planning and building the nunnery, as well as more recent photos of the nuns at DGL. None of this would have been possible without the myriad support of donors like yourself – thank you!

Endowment

In this Silver Jubilee year, we are particularly focused on growing the DGL Endowment.

Ensuring the DGL nuns and the other projects under the auspices of Jetsunma have sufficient funding for many years to come is best achieved with a sizable Endowment. We would like to invite you to express your gratitude to Jetsunma and her spirited work for nuns in the Tibetan Buddhist mandala by donating to the DGL Endowment.

To receive more detailed information about the Endowment and how to make bequests, please email us at info@dgli.org. You may also visit our website: www.dgli.org/the-dgl-endowment. Donors in the United States are able to make tax-deductible contributions.
