I'd like to take a few moments to thank someone for their many contributions to Luthier's Workshop. As some of you may know, I employ only a few people at my shop - each person providing unique skills to keep our small company humming.
Over the past several years, a few have apprenticed with me at the art of Luthiery and stringed instrument repair. Some have moved on to make a career in this field and others... have just moved-on... Currently, we have one full-time apprentice (John Weich) that has recently finished his first year with us and I'd like you to become more familiar with him.
John, 57 years young, was locally grown here in Green Bay, Wisconsin; also being a Luthier, has produced several guitars under the Weich label.
Occasionally, over the past few years, John would pop-in to the shop for Luthier supplies or just a little advice for a current project. I was very impressed with his skill as a builder and his passion as a guitar enthusiast; for I strongly believe that passion drives the skill.
In early August of last year, a fulltime position opened up and I asked John to join the staff. I must admit that John adds a new dimension to Luthier's Workshop. Not only proving to be a great repairman - he also gets my jokes! John, himself, is not so good at telling jokes but is improving.... JUST KIDDING!!!!
Seriously, I want to thank John for all of his hard work to date and look forward to his contributions for the many years to come. I also will be leaning on him to aid the younger apprentices as we add new staff in this coming year.
Images of John, below, illustrate how confident he is and how well he reacts to.... some of our clients! So, please send best wishes to John on this important milestone.
Sincerely,
Tony Louscher
