Toy Drive for Christmas Is for Kids
October 1, 2022

Collection Date: Saturday October 1, 2022
Time: 9:00 a.m. - noon
Place: Portia Planning and Wealth Management
30 Man Mar Drive, Plainville, MA 02762

Portia Planning and Wealth Management is proud to participate in the Ameriprise National Day of Service. They are hosting a drop-and-drive new toy collection to help support The Greater Attleboro Area Council for Children’s Christmas is for Kids initiative. Christmas is for Kids is an all-volunteer run program that provides gifts for children in the communities of Attleboro, North Attleboro, Plainville, Norton, Seekonk, and Rehoboth who would otherwise go without new toys and warm clothes on Christmas Day.

There are many stressors that can put a financial strain on a working parent or guardian, forcing a choice between food for the family and heat for their homes, leaving precious little, if anything, for gifts for their children at Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of donors in the community, Christmas is for Kids has been able to provide basic clothing needs as well as fulfill some special wishes for thousands of children since 1983. The children they help have faced many challenges, some living in homeless shelters, group homes, or foster care. Some families have faced a medical crisis that has wiped out savings or forced a parent to stop working to take care of an ill child.

ONE day only drop off in their office parking lot to support this amazing program. When you come to the parking lot, please have the donation in your trunk, and pop it open. Volunteers will remove the items so you can drive away. Please do not get out.
Personal Best Karate's 2022 Thanksgiving Brigade
November 19 and 20

URCC member Personal Best Karate's biggest annual event is a Thanksgiving food drive known as the Turkey Brigade. It’s hard to believe that right within our local communities, we have neighbors who don’t have the means to enjoy a holiday meal. To date, Personal Best Charity has delivered over 30,000 meals to local families.

Their goal is twofold -- provide the meals and give the experience of being of service. To this end, children, and families from our four Personal Best Karate schools (Easton, Foxboro Norton, and Raynham) are intimately involved in the raising of funds, the manual labor of packaging the meals and the final stage of delivering the meals to the recipients.
