Happy (Almost) Arbor Day, LA!
This is the first Arbor Day in six years that we haven't gathered in person to plant trees throughout the City of Angels on this national holiday. We miss digging in the dirt with you, and we cannot wait to resume volunteer events and be in community again soon — We'll be planting together in no time!
Arbor Day has always been firmly rooted in partnership, thanks to people like you. These past six years, we've planted hundreds of trees in low canopy neighborhoods of LA with the help of over 1,500 volunteers, community, city, state, and federal partners.

Time flies! Earth Month is almost over, and we've been overwhelmed by your generous support. We're just $221 shy of hitting our spring fundraising goal of $5,000 — There's two days left to support LA's trees and win a year's supply of coffee!
We’ve partnered with LA-based Don Francisco's Coffee to plant trees throughout Los Angeles and grow a greener, more climate resilient future for our city.
In L.A.'s Green New Deal, Mayor Eric Garcetti set ambitious goals of planting 90,000 trees by 2021 and increasing tree canopy in the areas greatest need by 50% by 2028. City Plants is actively working with partners to support these goals and grow a more equitable and climate resilient future for all Angelenos, and we know nothing is more powerful than partnership and collaboration. That's why we're asking for your support:
One Year of Free Coffee: The first 30 people to donate $150 or more to City Plants receive an entire YEAR'S supply of Don Francisco's Coffee (over $300 worth of java!), delivered straight to your door each month, tailored to your brewing style and preference. We already have 27 generous supporters. The next 3 people to donate will get java for a year!
Every Dollar Makes an Impact: Can’t spare $150? Donate what you can, and you’ll be entered into a raffle to win a Don Francisco’s gift basket full of delicious coffee.

Earth Day Collaboration:
Brother Nature x the Hundreds

Brother Nature and the Hundreds created a sustainable, custom graphic t-shirt made from recycled bottles in honor of Earth Day. Each t-shirt purchased supports City Plants’ mission to plant more trees and increase canopy in neighborhoods that lack access to nature and green space. Proceeds from this shirt will help us plant 100 new trees in L.A. We had a blast showing Brother Nature around the City Plants nursery!

Four years ago, we received this cinematic gift from a talented fifth grader at Baldwin Stocker Elementary, Kate Fakih. We hope you enjoy this short film about how to save LA's trees, which is, to quote Kate, "a delightful sight!"

"I've been developing the Tree Ambassador Community Action Toolkit. The goal of the Tree Ambassador program is to onboard community members who have a more intimate and holistic relationship with the communities we are working in. The Community Toolkit is a resource which will supplement more comprehensive virtual and in person training sessions. Training topics include an introduction to urban forestry, tree care basics, and environmental justice issues local to the City of Los Angeles. We are beyond excited to onboard our Tree Ambassadors in the coming weeks and begin hitting the streets, planting trees, and strengthening community!"
