A Birthday 100 Years in Preparation
They could not have known it at the time, but in many ways when those young people who were the founding members of Church of the Crossroads in 1923 signed the documents establishing our church, they were also beginning the organizing for a birthday party 100 years later. Every day that we live, or that an organization thrives in mission in this world, is a day that is built by the efforts of the people and the days that have preceded it. Those founders of ours - filled with idealism, a progressive and activist spirit, a full embrace of diversity and inclusion, and deeply felt faith -- embarked together on an endeavor that has profoundly shaped the lives of people in our immediate community and across the globe.
In the intervening 100 years, the Crossroaders that have followed have endeavored to live faithfully into that powerful initial beginning until this day. 100 years later we pause to celebrate what they built and what we continue to create. It is with great joy that we offer an abundance of opportunities for celebration and recommitment described below: Friday’s forum, Saturday’s lūʻau, Sunday’s Adult Ed, Sunday’s worship, Sunday’s 2nd Sunday lunch, and Sunday evening's continuing conversation. Please come and celebrate, please come and be part of laying the foundation for the next celebration 100 years from now.
Aloha,
Kahu David
