July 2020: What My State Membership $s Have Done For Me Lately
Progress on the Mayors' Commission on Climate Change Plan

As a result of comments submitted by PHCC of CA and other trade groups, the "needle was moved" on the draft Mayors' Commission on Climate Change Plan, extending implementation dates and including language related to evaluating the cost-benefit of mandating all-electric.

Mandatory Sexual Harassment Training
The Department of Fair Employment and Housing provides free online training courses on preventing sexual harassment and abusive conduct in the workplace.

California law requires all employers of 5 or more employees to provide 1 hour of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to nonsupervisory employees and 2 hours of sexual harassment and abusive conduct prevention training to supervisors and managers once every two years. The law requires the training to include practical examples of harassment based on gender identity, gender expression, and sexual orientation.

2020 Scholarship Application Deadline Has Been Extended
Due to the many schools that have been affected by COVID-19, the Scholarship Committee has decided to extend the scholarship deadline to July 15, 2020!

The PHCC-National Auxiliary awards more than $40,000 in scholarships each year, with more than 20 individual scholarships awarded in a typical year.

They have also added some alternative submission requirements. All applications must be postmarked by July 15.

Contractors State License Board - Public Counters Open July 1st
Now open in Sacramento along with field offices in Norwalk, Fresno, San Bernardino, and San Diego

The first-floor public counter at CSLB's headquarters in Sacramento, and field offices in Norwalk, Fresno, San Bernardino, and San Diego, will be open from 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

As a reminder, face coverings will be required to enter all CSLB facilities.

Public counter staff answer questions about licensure and completing applications, accept all documents pertaining to licensure, such as bonds, workers' compensation, and renewals, and handle all cash payments.

Bay Area Energy Efficiency Incentive Programs
Monthly workshops to introduce contractors to rebate programs

The regional mid-stream heat pump water heater program has kicked off and is providing $1,000 to contractors in Alameda, Marin, Napa, Contra Costa and Solano. When combined with BayREN and other county rebates, these projects can receive $2,000 to $5,200 for installing a heat pump water. San Francisco will be added in Q4 while other Bay Area counties like Sonoma, San Mateo and Santa Clara will be offering similar rebates in the next few months.
