Celebrating Camp Kindness Day

At camp, it’s often the smallest acts that leave the biggest mark. Whether it’s sharing bug spray with a buddy or cheering on a fellow Scout at the climbing wall, kindness is what makes camp feel like home.

This Camp Kindness Day, we’re celebrating the spirit of support, friendship, and compassion that fuels every Scout adventure. But the celebration doesn’t stop here; let’s keep the kindness going all summer long!

10 Explorers Awarded Prestigious LA5 Rotary Vocational Scholarships

We’re proud to celebrate ten outstanding Explorers who have been awarded LA5 Rotary Vocational Scholarships to support their pursuit of careers in law enforcement, fire, and EMS.

These remarkable young individuals, who are active in Explorer programs with the West Covina Fire Department, Monterey Park Police Department, Los Angeles City Fire Department, and Pasadena Police Department, were recognized for their leadership, dedication, and service to their communities.

Each recipient will use the scholarship to continue their education through vocational training. The awards were presented during a special ceremony at Cushman Watts, honoring the next generation of service-driven professionals.

Special thanks to the LA5 Rotary Club for their continued commitment to empowering youth through education and opportunity.

STEM Shoot! Award Day

Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Camp Trask

Join us Sunday, August 24, 2025, from 7:00 AM–5:00 PM at Trask Scout Reservation for a full day of hands-on STEM fun and discovery!

Scouts will explore Composite Materials, Aviation, and Space Technology, and earn the STEM Shoot! Award, and launch rockets they build themselves. The day includes interactive workshops, a BBQ lunch, and a special dedication honoring Merwyn C. Gill, who inspired the Composite Materials Merit Badge.

Space is limited to 90 Scouts—no waitlist—so register early! Please arrive 15 minutes early to complete all badge work, and remember to carpool due to limited parking near the rocket range.

Train Like a Firefighter with the LAFD Youth Program!

Are you ready to take on a real challenge and gain hands-on experience in the fire service? Join Post 106 and other LAFD Fire Explorer Programs and learn what it takes to train like a firefighter!

One of the core skills Explorers develop is “Laying a Line”—a critical operation in which firefighters establish a reliable water supply during emergencies. At Post 106, Explorers are expected to complete this high-stakes evolution in 65 seconds or less, meeting the elite standard of the Los Angeles City Fire Department.

This program offers more than training—it’s about building discipline, teamwork, and confidence while preparing for careers in fire and emergency services.
