SUMMER WORSHIP + POTLUCK = VESPERS
August 12, 19, & 26, 5:30 pm, Peace Garden
Lovely warm summer nights, ahhhh! And in August, on lovely warm summer SUNDAY nights, all are welcome to come to our Vespers circles. At First Universalist, this means we gather in the Peace Garden* at 5:30 pm for a half-hour of centering music, readings, and meditation, and then share a simple potluck supper at 6 pm. Bring yourself and anything you’d like to share. Invite others to come with you. However you spent your weekend, it’s nice to know you have a circle of friends who will be glad to see you. (*Rainy? Inside!)

FIRST U'S WELL IS RUNNING LOW!
The church's well runs very low during our quiet summers, but our staff's paychecks and other bills still come due. We invite you to keep your payments flowing, even though worship services are suspended. Please mail in your payments, or set up regular payments through your bank. Or, if you are able, payment in full of your FY19 pledge is enormously appreciated! Your timely gifts prevent us from borrowing to make it nicely through the dry spell. Thanks to those who are already regularly giving! -- Your Treasurer

PREBLE STREET SOUP KITCHEN
Tuesdays, August 7, & September 4
We need
YOU
to help out with dinner service at Preble Street. You will feel good about yourself if you take a few hours to volunteer. This can also be a great way introduce teenagers, aged 13 and older, to a rewarding service experience. The clients are appreciative and the Preble Street staff is highly organized and helpful at making us feel welcome and useful. The job means reporting for duty at 3:30 and staying till 6:30, following instructions from the Preble Street staff. You are encouraged to commit to the entire 3 hours, but there is some flexibility: arrival anytime before 4:15 is acceptable. To volunteer for the dinner service, find the lists in the Gathering Room or contact Phyllis Chinlund, 207-781-8842, or
pchinlund@gmail.com
