Space is limited, so register now to secure your spot!

Family Hike and Project with Gear Hut

Do something nice for the Earth with us and our Gear Hut friends this Earth month. On Sunday, April 13 at 9:30 am we'll meet at the Huffaker Hills trailhead, and while enjoying a scenic desert hike for a couple of hours, we'll challenge ourselves to do even more park clean up than last spring.

Bring the family, friends, snacks, water and BYO-Coffee Cup!   Gear Hut will provide breakfast treats and coffee. Wear good walking shoes, layers, and sunscreen, and keep your fingers crossed for sunshine. A special thanks to KTMB for providing all clean up supplies!

Find details and hike registration on our website

Great Basin Outdoor School is honored to be one of the nonprofits Gear Hut supports by selling gently-used outdoor clothing and gear donated in our name. Spring cleaning time! What can you take in for us?

More Ways to Help the Earth

Good news for Earth month--

Have you heard of one5c? It's a website we recently learned about that will send weekly emails to teach us to live on the Earth without trashing it. Check it out!

Thanks to our Supporters

Recent support from the Reno Aces Foundation will ensure that children in families with financial hardship will be included in our Summer Adventure Day Camp.

Extra-special thanks to the Patricia Bragg Foundation and the Burning Man Foundation for generous much needed recent general program support. Thank you!!!

More thanks to Tom and Shirley Distad for the snowshoes and the donation to help replenish our aging snowshoe inventory.

Help Us Teach Kids to Love the Earth

Your donations help us connect children and families with the joys of nature and the science of our natural world. Think about the world you want to leave your children and grandchildren and how you can share your values. Any size contribution is appreciated and there are many ways to give. Did you know we have an endowment fund at the Community Foundation? That you can give appreciated assets or annual required minimum distributions or set up monthly giving?

Thank you for helping us teach kids to love the Earth.
