I love North Carolina. I love our extreme weather changes. I love that it is 34 degrees in the morning and 83 degrees by the afternoon. I love wearing three layers of clothes and removing them as the day goes on. I love doing extra laundry because all three layers are dirty. It's truly my favorite. (Said no one ever.) It took almost all weekend to finish the laundry for Scott and me both. I would have rather been planting but it was too cold to risk it. But now?! Literally sweating behind my knees.
This week has been crazy moving plants inside and out by carts, rolling carts, and trailers. Shout out to the Garden Center staff because it takes a village to make it happen around here. We know we are turning the corner for spring and all blooms are about to break loose.
One afternoon, the Garden Center team was filling the Robin's Nest with plants and tucking them in for safe keeping. Normally I am not around for this but that afternoon I thought I would jump in and help out for a hot minute.
I moved a couple trays and was reflecting on moving plants inside the garden center and how they were in our offices and covering the entire house. That was also when we had zero shopping space and all our offices were up there instead of in the house across the pond.
Ann was directing us and I wanted to be super helpful. Right up until something bit me. The worst part was I didn't know what it was. So I kept looking at my finger waiting for it to double in size. Was it a spider? A bug of some sort that would melt my finger off? I'm not dramatic. Ok, maybe a little.
After a few minutes of whining, it subsided and there wasn't a need to rush to the ER. But these are the "dangers" we face every day. You never know what will happen at FGS. Ok, I kid. It's somewhat harmless, comparatively speaking. The most dangerous thing that could possibly happen is you shop for one plant and leave with ten. It really is like that, I swear.
Enjoy a beautiful holiday weekend. We will be closed on Sunday and Monday so don't miss a chance to gather all your plants early this week!!! Hop to it ^-^
