Mayor Ras J. Baraka today asked “everyone to stay home” for a nearly complete shut-down of the City of Newark on Mondays to bring attention to the severity of the COVID-19 spread in the community and help slow the spread.

Beginning this coming Monday, April 13, “Be Still Mondays” will happen each week for the next month.
“We want to shut down the whole City,” Mayor Baraka said during his Thursday night Facebook Live briefing. “We’re sending out letters to all businesses asking them to close.

As of 04/03/2020, we were told by the CITY of NEWARK to only have 12 people in the store at a time and all customers MUST WEAR MASK AND GLOVES . There will be a orange/red cone with a red line and X next to it .... Please stand behind it until you are called in.

We will still be closing at 4:45pm until further notice from the City of Newark.

At this time, until further notice, there will be NO WESTERN UNION TRANSFERS . This includes picking up money, reloading a prepaid debit card and making payments via Western Union only.

Regular bill payments like utility, wireless, credit cards are still up and running. Reloading / making payments to your prepaid phone bill is up and running as well as adding international top ups to your family's line in Haiti, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, etc are up and running.
