In honor of Mighty Micah Smith, MAA is proud to offer the ‘For Micah’ $1,000 grant to families who adopt a child with hydrocephalus.

In his Mother’s words, ‘Our time with Micah was cut way too short, but those were some of the best days of my life. I would adopt him again and again if I had it to do all over. He brought so much love, laughter, and joy to our family. We loved him so much and are so grateful for the time we had. He left a mark on our hearts that nothing can erase.

He became known as Mighty Micah who not only left an impact on us, but on an entire community. I pray that Micah’s story inspires others to adopt a child with hydrocephalus, and provide a forever family to a child.’ Our prayer, too, is that this grant in Micah’s name will help other families bring home children with hydrocephalus. And if you are not pursuing adoption at this time, but feel compelled to help, please consider making a donation via PayPal in Micah’s name to this grant.

Humanitarian Aid Donations Needed!

Thailand: As the Delta variant has surged in Thailand, our partners at the Thai Red Cross Children's Home have been working hard to keep the staff and children safe and healthy. They have asked us to send children's masks, and antigen test kits, to help in their efforts. We will be shipping these items directly to the TRC, so please donate funds to be used towards purchasing these items.

Ecuador: We have been told the children’s homes are in need of children’s gummy vitamins, educational toys and games, markers, and Legos. MAA staff are travelling to Ecuador in November and will be bringing donations with them. You can mail donations of supplies to either the Illinois or Delaware offices, or donate funds to MAA to purchase these items.

Please visit MAA's donation page to give towards these efforts! Designate your gift for the Humanitarian Aid Fund, and 100% of your donation will go towards these causes and other humanitarian needs in countries where MAA works and around the world.

MAA attended the 16th Philippines Global Consultation for Child Welfare conference in September!

Normally a three day conference that Diana and Katie attend every other year in Manila, ICAB (the Central Adoption Authority in the Philippines) chose to make the conference virtual this year due to COVID, and held two hour sessions on every Tuesday and Friday afternoon, Philippines time.  MAA was invited by ICAB to present on the topic of Therapeutic Models for the Adoption of Sibling Groups. On September 17th, Katie Schultz gave a 20 minute presentation, which included information, helpful strategies for families and professionals, and video clips from interviews she conducted with Madison families. Diana Bramble participated in a Q & A session, and panel discussion, with two other adoption professionals after Katie’s talk. We are thankful for the invitation from ICAB and the opportunity to share our knowledge and expertise of ways to best help and support children and families!

In honor of National Adoption Month, NCFA is presenting Adoption 101

This is a free, informational webinar for anyone considering or just starting the adoption process. The hope is that this training will provide an overview of adoption options, normalize what is often an overwhelming experience and provide practical first steps for the adoption journey. The webinar will include a short time of Q&A with attendees, and the recording will be available afterwards through our online learning library. More information and registration is available HERE or via adoptioncouncil.org/webinars.
