Happy Father's Day!
This weekend our civic calendar celebrates Father's Day and Juneteenth, and as we gather this Sunday we will recognize both. We will give thanks for those who lovingly parent us, in a variety of ways and roles. A loving parent helps us come to know the love of God more deeply, and so we celebrate the ways that God calls us into life-giving relationship with one another. We will also take time to learn more about the history of Juneteenth, how it is celebrated, and recommit ourselves as a congregation to the work of anti-racism. Looking forward to seeing you Sunday!

SUNDAY SCHOOL & YOUTH SUMMER SCHEDULE |

Starting July 1, the Sunday School and Youth Group will go on hiatus for the summer. This is to give the volunteers a break for the summer for all of their hard work throughout the year. In lew of Sunday School, we will be having a table in the back of the sanctuary with board games, coloring sheets, and activities that the kids can do quietly while they listen to the service. This will continue until September 1, when we will be resuming our regular Sunday School classes. Thank you all for your support and I hope you having fantastic summer.

Youth Beach Day
Saturday, June 18 | 10 - Noon | Ocean Beach | RSVP by June 16
Join us for a day on the beach with our Youth. To celebrate the start of summer, we are going to enjoy the beautiful ocean that we live near. We will meet in the Courtyard with our beach supplies and beverages will be provided, (feel free to bring your own snacks, towels, sunscreen, etc.) and then we will all walk down to the beach together. We can play beach volleyball or simply enjoy the sunshine. We will be back at the church by 12 PM.

Farewell Party for Pastor Jessica

After over 10 years of service at FUMCSD and Water's Edge Faith Community, Rev. Jessica Strysko has been reappointed as the lead pastor for Anaheim United Methodist Church starting July 1, 2022. Let us all gather together to celebrate all of the work and ministry that Rev. Jessica has done over the years for the church and surrounding community. There will be food, music and a chance to bid Rev. Jessica and her family farewell as they embark on this next journey that God has in store for them.

OB Street Fair & Chili Cook-off
Saturday, June 25 | 10 AM - 8 PM | Ocean Beach
We are pleased to announce the Ocean Beach Street Fair & Chili Cook-off has returned!
We will host a table at the Fair which will include, kids activities, a fundraiser for a second well in Malawi, (OB2), and handouts with upcoming events happening at the Water's Edge Faith Community. Please join us for a day of fun and conversation with folks in the OB community. We need a lot of volunteers to help with event. Walking Around OB

Food Truck Party VBS
(Mission Valley Campus)
Grades Pre K - Gr. 5 | Cost: $40 per child, Snacks and T-shirt are included in the cost.
Join us this summer as we cook up some fun with our Food Truck Party VBS! We are excited to have a week-long, half-day summer camp return to First Church. Each morning will be full of games and learning activities centered around Matthew 6:11, “Give us this day our daily bread.” These words will help campers to remember that everything we have comes from God, and to turn to God in prayer for our daily needs to be met.
To make VBS a success we need VOLUNTEERS!
Please use this registration form if you would like to sign up as a volunteer. All volunteers are submitted to a background screening. Register below, by June 27 if you want to take part in VBS or Volunteer this summer.
