Happy Father’s Day

Many of our male staff members started with us as young bachelors and we have delighted in their weddings and even more so in their becoming fathers. We love to see the involvement in their children’s lives by taking paternity leave or a morning off to take them for their immunizations.

Executive Director

Leangseng’s PHD Graduation

The story of our extraordinary Executive Director, Leangseng Hoy, is an inspiration to many. He was born just after the genocide years, in the midst of the 20-year civil war. Food was scarce and education almost non-existent. He badgered and begged his parents to let him study. He eventually sold the family cow so that he could continue his education. He really wanted to become a doctor, but had to settle on a Nursing Degree to make it work financially. Since then, he has spread his wings and continues to study, even with a very full-time job and family. His eye was on a Doctorate as he could then earn the title of ‘Dr’ in another way.

Congratulations to Dr. Leangseng Hoy, who graduated top of his class with a PhD in Educational Administration and Leadership. His dissertation topic was ‘The Impact of Leadership Styles on Staff’s Performance in Higher Education’.

His newest achievement will continue to motivate our CCDO Dream Team to aspire to their own higher educational goals. Many of the team have already gotten additional degrees while working for CCDO.

We salute the achievements and will continue to support their dreams.

Health in Schools

The Texel Foundation has generously extended their Health in School grant with GBP £20,000 (US $25,000), so that we may continue to evaluate the health of school children and inform their parents of first aid, safety, and nutrition. It is noted that the Government has been asked to continue this model program for the future years in all primary schools. Uniforms for Hope

We couldn’t help but share with you the smiling faces of 500 kids in 21 schools who received the uniforms and shoes from Maureen Maloof and Uniforms for Hope. The pictures tell a thousand words, as the poorest kids now have fresh uniforms that are not worn-out hand me downs. While education on Cambodia is universal and free, all children are expected to come to school in uniforms and with own school supplies, a luxury for many families. Watch the video!

Donors

Once again, we applaud our longtime donors, Beth & Kevin Hoffman who generously donated $5,000 to be used where most needed. This kind of donation shows trust in CCDO and gives us a wonderful ability to make the most use of the precious funds. We wish the Hoffman family and all a great start of summer and school holidays.
