A Message from the Little Flower Administration:
Greetings Little Flower Students and Families –
We are happy to bring you updates about security and the Activities’ Bus:

1. Beginning the week of 10/11/21, we are partnering with Philadelphia Protection Unit Security Services to staff a security detail at the school, as well as collaborating with the Philadelphia Police Department. It is critical that your daughter have on her at all times her key card. This is considered part of the uniform. Demerits will be assessed if a student is considered out of uniform.

2. We are also happy to report that our Activities’ Buses are going to begin service again this week at 5pm. We anticipate that there will be demand for a Northbound, Southbound and a Roxborough/Manyunk Route, but there could be others. We ask if you are interested in the activities’ bus you fill out the survey here: https://forms.gle/19vwMzReYJuvqdPHA so that we can make our route determinations. Note that routes may vary daily contingent on student demand. The only reliable way of determining need will be for students/families to complete the survey. Thank you for your support.

3. Reminder: We are hosting both a COVID and FLU vaccine clinic all day on Wednesday, 10/6/21. The COVID clinic can cover initial shots as well as boosters for all individuals who are 6 months out from a Pfizer 2nd shot. Teachers are considered eligible, as well as those over 65 and those with preexisting health conditions. All required paperwork for student eligibility is found below this message. Here is the link to sign up for the vaccine clinic: https://forms.gle/V6DrWHNaH8fBJzLU6

Our priority for this year continues to remain focused on building our community safely, securely and sustainably. We thank you for your support.

Gratefully,
The Little Flower Administrative Team
Congratulations to our newly elected

Happy Feast Day to all in our Little Flower family!

Our students participated last week in a Mass in honor of St. Thérèse and were treated to ice cream trucks during lunch periods to celebrate!

The photo above showcases a letter from the sister of St. Thérèse which states the following:

We are the recipients of a message from the sister of a saint. The faculty and students of Little Flower High School have been made very happy by the letter sent to them by Mother Agnes of Jesus, O.C.D., the sister of Saint Thérèse of the Child Jesus.

Translation of the above message: I beg my little Sister Saint to obtain roses highly perfumed with graces for the Little Flower Catholic High School of Philadelphia and for its entire personnel.

ACTIVITIES BUS

The Activities Bus is not yet running. We hope to have it up and running soon. Parents and students will be notified when it is scheduled to begin. Thank you for your patience.

TRANSPORTATION

We are aware that there are delays with Septa transportation, especially route 60 and 433. We have been in communication with our representatives at Septa and have shared concerns as we hear about them. Septa is experiencing a personnel shortage and experiencing delays system-wide. Please note the 428 may be a good alternative for those experiencing issues with the 60.

Please call Septa with any concerns or questions about specific
routes: 215-580-7800. If a bus passes without stopping at a
predetermined stop, please take a photo of the bus and email to

Maps and information about routes can be found here:

BUILDING ACCESS

All students were given key cards that give access to the building. These allow students to enter the building. Students should have their cards with them at all times. Students are asked not to prop open doors at any time.

AFTERNOON PICK UPS

When picking your student up from school on Lycoming, please DO NOT park in front of the buses. The car line begins after the last bus on the campus side of the street. As an alternative, students may be picked up on Luzerne on the campus side of the street. Please exercise caution and safety when picking students up.

ABSENCE AND EARLY DISMISSAL

Absence and early dismissal notes may be found on the website here:

Please try to make doctor’s appointments after school hours. If a student does need to leave, please send in a note the day before or the morning of the early dismissal.

Call 215-455-6900 x1128 to report absence or early dismissal.

LUNCH

Students may bring or purchase lunch. There are also vending machines for student use. Lunch accounts can be created at www.payschoolscentral.com. You will need your daughter’s student ID number.

If adding money to a lunch account in school, it can be done using cash or a cashier's check made out to Aramark.

Please feel free to contact Ms. Adrianna Savarese, Assistant Principal for Student Life with any questions. [email protected] 215-455-6900 x1140.
A Message from the Guidance Department:
If your daughter is having a difficult time do not hesitate to reach out to the LF Guidance Department. Please call Mrs. Ashley Maher-Stearn (215) 455-6900 extension 1146 and she will connect us to you. You can also email me at [email protected] for general questions about the guidance department.

COLLEGE VISITS

Seniors can sign up for College Information Sessions here at Little Flower through their Naviance accounts. These visits will be a combination of classroom and lunch room visits.

THE SAT AND ACT

The deadline to register for the November SAT is October 8, 2021. Students can register at College Board Website.

In addition, students may choose to take the ACT test instead of the SAT. You can register online for the ACT with this ACT link

Many colleges are still “test optional''. Please know that not taking the SAT or the ACT will not eliminate students from applying to colleges and universities this year. Please check the admissions websites at your daughter’s target schools for more information.

THE PSAT

The PSAT will be administered to the grades 10 and 11 on October 13, 2021. Grade 9 will take the PSAT 8/9. Both tests are practice for the SAT, a standardized test used in the college admissions process.
