Greetings!

A Message from Syntaktes LaShonda M. Johnson

Today, we take great pride in remembering seven pioneering young women at Butler University who in 1922 founded a sisterhood like no other. Our founders created a shared vision to sow seeds of providing greater service to reap greater progress. We take great pride in celebrating our past achievements and the excitement of our future as we march toward our Centennial Celebration in 2022.

The Southwestern Region, comprised of Sorors, Philos, Rhoers, and Rhosebuds, is an incomparable sisterhood that continues to transform lives and impact communities across our 4 states and the world.

As you celebrate in grandeur style, I ask that you continue to carry the torch, let your light shine across the Southwestern Region, and renew your commitment to Sigma. Continue to stay at the forefront of civic, social, and health, and humanitarian issues. Only then, we will we achieve a world in which all women and their families reach their full potential in all aspects of life and are able to create unlimited opportunities for future generations.

You are the essential forces that keep the sorority's business running smoothly. You, the grassroots Sorors, are pieces that make the sorority mosaic. Your talent and your support are all needed to build a team alliance and a team spirit that will be effective. Keep your Sigma Torch burning brightly. Let no one ever rob you of the joy of legitimate interaction in this sisterhood. Keep your membership current. Never go home and sit regardless of how displeased you get. You have a fundamental right and an obligation to be forever financial as embodied in these words "By each Sister will I stand until the end."
