New Yarn!
American Scenic from Blue Sky Fibers
Many of you know I do not stock limited edition yarn.  If I can't get more of it in six months I don't want it now.  But this yarn - THIS YARN - is so scrumptious, so fabulous, so delicious that I broke my own rule and got as much of it as they would let me have.  And yes, there are only four colors, and yet I still had to have it.
The product of a collaboration by Blue Sky Fibers (formerly known as Blue Sky Alpacas) and Long Island Yarn & Farm (formerly known as Long Island Livestock Co.), this worsted weight yarn is a soft, soft blend of 50% US alpaca, 30% US merino wool and 20% silk, and is as luxurious as it sounds.
Get yours while you can, because when it is gone there will be no more, and it will keep me from buying it all for myself.  I seriously would like to make a bed out of this stuff, it is so wonderful.
Summer Knit-A-Long!
Join Us Every Friday From 5PM - 7PM
As We Knit a Great New Rectangular Shawl/Wrap/Scarf By Casapinka -

  (Photo above by Casapinka)
I love the description on Ravelry of this beautiful wrap explaining the name of the shawl - that urban legend has it that goldfish have a memory capacity or attention span of just three seconds or just enough for one trip around the goldfish bowl.  I don't know if that is true or not, but that is the inspiration for this pattern, with its ever-changing pattern designs.  A little garter stripes, a little mosaic, some stockinette, a little linen stitch, a little lace, and so on - you'll never get bored, and you will end up with an eminently wearable piece that can be used as a shawl or a wrap or a scarf and more!  Three colors of fingering weight yarn is all you will need.
This is a very informal knit-a-long, starting July 7th and ending around Labor Day, or whenever everyone finishes up.  Come when you can, skip a week or two or three, it is mainly a social group of people all knitting the same wrap in companionship, with knitting help available should you need it, of course.
Here is a picture of my head start, begun so I could know how it would go, and I must say it is a very enjoyable knit!
