The Internal Revenue Service reminds taxpayers to beware of promoters claiming their services are necessary to resolve unpaid taxes owed to the IRS while charging excessive fees, often with no results. 

These unscrupulous “mills” use aggressive marketing to make false claims of guaranteed settlements for “pennies-on-the-dollar,” or will say there’s a limited window of time to resolve tax debts through the IRS Offer in Compromise (OIC) program. 

"Taxpayers should be cautious of aggressive marketing that can mislead them,” said IRS Commissioner Danny Werfel. “Many OIC mills charge steep fees, give false assurances and can take advantage of taxpayers with empty promises that their tax debt will disappear. The result is often good money paid for bad results.” 

An OIC is a legitimate IRS program that allows qualifying taxpayers to work with the IRS to settle a tax debt for less than the full amount owed. It is a possible option for those who are unable to pay their full tax liability, or if doing so creates a financial hardship. In determining eligibility, the IRS considers the taxpayer’s unique situation, income and equity in assets. The OIC agreement occurs directly between the taxpayer and the IRS. 

Beware of empty promises and steep costs

OIC is a valuable program that helps taxpayers with their federal tax debts, and some companies offer legitimate services to help taxpayers file a request. However, some companies running OIC mills will heavily advertise their dubious promises to settle taxpayer debt at steep discounts. They usually charge excessive fees for a service taxpayers could have obtained themselves directly from the IRS. 

OIC mills make a perennial appearance on the IRS' annual Dirty Dozen list of scams and schemes that put taxpayers and the tax professional community at risk of losing money, personal information, data and more. 

Learn more about an OIC

The IRS can help taxpayers pursue the Offer in Compromise program on their own, without the help of these unscrupulous OIC mills. IRS.gov is a good first stop for taxpayers facing a tax debt where they can learn more about the OIC program and whether they qualify. While not all taxpayers will meet the technical requirements for an OIC, learning if an individual qualifies is as easy as using the IRS's Offer in Compromise Pre-Qualifier tool. Individual taxpayers may also check their OIC eligibility via Individual Online Account. 

October 15th is the Deadline for 2023 Personal Tax Returns!!

Extensions that were filed in April were an extension of time to file until October 15th, but not to pay.

Please be advised that late payment of tax are subject to approximately 5% penalty per month.

This is a new requirement under the Corporate Transparency Act for ALL LLC's, Corporations, PA's & Partnerships to file this report with FinCEN (Financial Crimes Enforcement Network). Any business owner that owns > 25% or more of a company needs to be reported on the BOI Filing.

What Is a Solar Eclipse? & How the Current Eclipse Can Be COURAGE Inspiring

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the Earth and the Sun. The Moon temporarily blocks out the Sun & light. In ancient times eclipses were viewed as scary. The darkness created at the time of an eclipse was perceived to be a monster attempting to eat the Sun. To antidote to the fear the eclipse

generated COURAGE was needed. Today, with science informing us of the real-life dynamics of an eclipse, COURAGE may not be required to calm superstition inspired fear. And, however when Susan Miller, a well- known astrologer (AstrologyZone.com) describes eclipses as “lunations on steroids,” the description causes

me to wonder what that actually means. Steroids are powerful drugs that athletes take for peak performance. Thus, I propose it might realistically mean that an eclipse can be a catalyst for inspiring peak performance in

becoming all that we were meant to be. If this is so, and if we agree with famous poet E.E. Cummings that COURAGE is needed to be who you are meant to be it may begin to make sense to you why the graphic for this eclipse related article calls attention to COURAGE.

According to, world famous, Susan Miller, one of a Solar Eclipse’s most positive effects is that it offers opportunities for meaningful fresh starts and uplifting new beginnings. In this article I make suggestions how you can choose to use the October 2024 eclipse to inspire you to begin a new or an enhanced quest to be who

you are meant to be. Note: The energetic impact of an eclipse can be felt as much as 6 months into the future. There is no need to rush or scramble into frantic action. This coming week might be viewed as an awareness

phase. There is plenty of time for skillfully exercising patience which is, yet, another attribute associated with this eclipse.

Patience, COURAGE and the Number Synchronicities of the October 2 Solar Eclipse

A defining energy of the #2 is Patience. Patience as an energetic state does not a suggest proactive action. Thus, if we want to be taking proactive meaningful action we are presented with a challenge. And, however,

alternatively, the energy of #1, (the component part of the #11 the Master Number of #2) is COURAGE. A defining nature of Libra is determined by it being ruled by Venus, the planetary ruler of both relationships of all kinds and money.

conscientiously embrace being who you are meant to be. At the same time also be open to gain insights into what blocks from you being who you are meant to be. As previously stated, but worth repeating: Eclipses nudge and sometimes forcefully push us to become aware of blocks to self-awareness that have been hidden and therefore eclipsed.
