Summer Activities That Can Impact Taxes

While summer is a time for fun, it’s never the wrong time to be thinking about taxes – and some of those summer activities could have an impact. Here are a few summertime activities and tips on how taxpayers should consider them for filing season.

These include:

  • Summer jobs and part-time work: Income earned from summer jobs or part-time work is still taxable.
  • Home improvements: Making energy-efficient home improvements could qualify for tax credits.
  • Summer camp: If a taxpayer sends a child to summer camp, the cost may count toward the Child and Dependent Care Credit.
  • Business travel: Business trips taken in the summer can have deductible expenses.
  • Gig work: Summer can be a popular time for side hustles or gig work, and income from these activities is also taxable.

Saturn in Aries: A New Chapter Begins

The upcoming Saturn entry into Aries on May 24, 2025, marks a significant astrological shift. This is especially true following an emotionally intense Full Moon in Scorpio on May 12. This transition initiates a new cycle of personal growth, discipline, and ambition, as Saturn moves from the introspective waters of Pisces into the fiery, action-oriented sign of Aries.

Saturn, the planet of structure, responsibility, and discipline, entering Aries, the first sign of the zodiac is the start of a new astrological cycle. This transit encourages individuals to take initiative, assert themselves, and embark on new endeavors with determination and resilience. The emphasis is self leadership, pioneering efforts, and the courage to face challenges head-on.

However, it's important to note that Saturn is considered to be in its "fall" in Aries, meaning its

energies may not express smoothly. Aries and Capricorn, the homebase of Saturn, “square” each other. This means they are basically at bumper car odds with each other. The impulsive nature of

Aries can clash with Saturn's preference for caution and deliberation. This potentially then leadi to internal conflicts between the desire for immediate action and the need for careful planning.

From Emotional Depth to Assertive Action

The Full Moon in Scorpio earlier in May brought deep emotional insights, encouraging introspection and the release of past traumas. As Saturn transitions into Aries, the focus shifts

from internal processing to external action. This progression offers an opportunity to apply the emotional clarity gained during the Scorpio Full Moon to tangible goals and initiatives. This is ideal for initiating projects that require perseverance and a strong sense of purpose.
