A Gentle Reminder You Can Be Like Bamboo

We Are at a Crossroads of Two Different Types of Change

Overriding generalizations are notorious for being too broad to be meaningful. That said, I am going to stick my neck out and make an overriding generalization: In general people like stability and do not like change. Thus, as we find ourselves in a time when change is a centerpiece of our lives there is, understandably, a real need for resources and tools for skillfully navigating the times.

Four weeks from now on 11/19/2024 a sixteen year (thus, it consisted of over 75 weeks) cosmic cycle that has instigated and inspired deep seated systemic global change ends. And, however, if you find yourself hoping this means you can breathe a sigh of relief, that respite from turmoil is on the horizon, sadly It is clear

from an astrological perspective this will just not be the case. The cosmos has yet another, different, but still disruptive change inducing cycle ahead.

The new cycle will have new nuances and qualities from the cycle that is ending, and, however, spoiler alert what lies ahead is likely be even more disrupting to the status quo than the cycle that started in 2008. Pluto, the planet of transformation is moving from Capricorn, the sign of power struggles into Aquarius, the sign of revolution and innovation. It is plausible that 5 – 10 – 15 and 20 years from now we may, when thinking back on 2008 – 2024, view it as having been a warm up for what came to pass with Pluto in Aquarius.

A Bit of Comforting Insight

If life has thrown you curveballs and you have successfully managed to prevail consider yourself resiliently lucky, and, thus, hopefully, prepared for the future. If the pandemic and all the changes that have happened over the past 16 years have prompted you to learn to be able to ride the waves of change and adjust -- you are to be congratulated. Consciously, and/or even unconsciously you can consider yourself as having been participating in resilience training. If you have learned to adapt to the need to bend so you did not break you have every reason to consider yourself to be experienced in expecting the unexpected and, thus, prepared to be coping with what lies ahead.

Pluto in Capricorn: A Final Chapter After 16 Years

In the world of astrology, we are currently witnessing a significant moment—Pluto’s last 4 weeks in Capricorn. This is the conclusion of a transformative journey that began in 2008. Pluto, the planet of profound change, rebirth, and power, has spent the past sixteen years stirring up deep transformations within Capricorn’s realm of structure, authority, tradition, big business and government. (FYI: This is the last time Pluto will be in Capricorn for the next 247 years.)

Capricorn is the zodiac sign that rules institutions, governments, and big business. Pluto’s transformative energy, brought an era of collapse and rebirth for many large systems.

Key events have included:

 The 2008 Financial Crisis: Pluto’s entry aligned with a global financial meltdown, highlighting the need for a reevaluation of outdated economic systems.

 The Pandemic and the related Revolution in Work and Social Norms: The transformation of how we work, with the rise of technology, remote work, and new expectations around authority.

Pluto is a planet of power. Power brokers, when stepping down, do not tend to go quietly into the night. As Pluto takes a final bow in Capricorn during these next four weeks, we can realistically expect an uptick in power struggles great and small. In Pluto’s final weeks in Capricorn it may intensify conflicts around issues of control. Given the upheavel connected to the US election public power struggles are very likely to be front and center. Being forewarned and having a mental construct around coping (“Bend but do not break”) you

may be prepared to not be surprised and, thus, better able to cope. If you are experiencing, or are presented with power struggles on a personal and/or professional basis, it may prove helpful to remind yourself to be

like bamboo – “Bend but do not break”.

A Glimpse Into What’s Next: Pluto in Aquarius

Once Pluto leaves Capricorn, it will settle into Aquarius, where it will stay until 2044. The shift from earth-bound Capricorn to air inspired, innovative Aquarius is monumental. The world and we, as citizens of this Universe, will focus more on collective progress, technology, and the dismantling of old social structures in

favor of futuristic, hopefully more humanitarian ideals. And, however, both the endings and the new beginnings portend that there will be stress.

For now, as Pluto concludes its stay in Capricorn, reflect on how you’ve transformed, both personally and in the broader societal context, over the past sixteen years. This is the end of a major chapter and the start of

something entirely new—a cosmic turning point that we won’t experience again in our lifetimes.
