VIM was recently
awarded a grant from the Humor Therapy Fund
of the Scranton Area Foundation.
On Monday, November 4th, April Lennon, MSW, and Serena Kozokas, Marywood University MSW intern, had the opportunity to meet and thank Brittany Pagnotti, Communications Manager at the Scranton Foundation and Jeannine Luby, Founder of the Humor Therapy Fund, for their support. This grant has allowed VIM to
incorporate humor therapy into the Behavioral Health Program.

Darcie Schaffer, Manager of Dental Services, visited the Big Daddy Daycare in Nanticoke and enjoyed time with the children while teaching them the
importance of brushing their teeth
and visiting the dentist.

Family Services Staff Visit VIM

Family Service Association
presented the monthly in-service organization held on Tuesday, November 12, 2019. Gertrude McGowan, Chief Executive Officer, Tom Foley, Director of 211/Helpline, and Jessica Ives, Director of Case Management and Community Programs joined the staff and volunteers for an
informational session
on the myriad services provided through their agency.

Shelby Goss, dental hygienist at VIM, is
expecting a baby boy
on November 25th. A baby shower was hosted by Darcie Schaffer at her home. Staff and volunteers enjoyed a
pleasant afternoon
with Shelby and her family to celebrate the anticipation of the new baby. Darcie's pet deer also showed up for their daily bread or vegetable snack.

Sezen Uslan
is a Physician Assistant student at Misericordia University. She decided to choose
VIM
because she loves serving and
giving back
to the under-served community. She is excited to gain experience in internal medicine.

|
|
Stephanie Orzelek
is a Physician Assistant student from King's College. She chose
VIM
as her current rotation to gain more experience in Internal Medicine. Stephanie hopes to practice
Family Medicine
in her hometown of Binghamton, NY.
|
|
Ernie Stiner
is a Pharmacy student from Wilkes University. He is looking forward to interacting with patients and
helping
them with what they need. He hopes to practice

Pharmacy
in his home state of New Jersey.

Jennifer Lee
is a Pharmacy student from Wilkes University. She was inclined to choose
VIM
as her rotation site because she
wants to help the underserved populations. After Pharmacy school, Jennifer hopes to pursue a
PhD
in
Immunology
.

Maven Project Educational
Teleconference Sessions

In conjunction with the clinic's partnership with the
Maven Project

educational teleconference sessions
will be provided by physicians across the country. Each session will be from
12:00pm to 1:00pm
in the clinic's conference room and is open to volunteers and providers.

The upcoming teleconferences sessions are:
- Tuesday, November 26th - Evaluation of Back Pain
- Tuesday, December 3rd - Atrial Fibrilation, the Most Common Arrhythmia Seen in Clinical Practice
