Happy Graduation Day

Education is the key to success, and we are so proud of our graduating class of 2024. Over the past year, we had 20 hard working rural scholarship students graduating in their chosen fields from teachers to social workers to computer scientists and nurses.

Here are photos of some of the current graduates. All have found fulfilling jobs in their fields and some are working for other NGOs and giving back to society.

Career Fair

To ensure that students understand opportunities to pursue their passions, CCDO takes part in an annual Career Fair, where our staff speak to 12th graders to have them explore and collect information about different jobs and careers. Tips and guidelines are given to prepare them for university and help them find their dream job. In the past, most students only knew of farming and menial jobs from their parents. The only aspiration rural children might have had was to become teachers. We have seen a huge change lately. We have helped develop their skills with English and Computer classes as well as helping them pay for extra tutoring in difficult high school subjects. The world is their oyster, and they can develop their passions with a career of their choice.

Happy Father’s Day

Visit of Penn State University from USA

In May, we had a visit from 12 students and 2 professors from Penn State University during their 10 days in Cambodia. CCDO hosted the group for 3 days and they experienced many of our programs from visiting our free breakfast program to our Women’s Empowerment Program to a visit with our Health in Schools project.

The culmination was an afternoon spent with our scholarship students to learn about life as a student at a Cambodian University. The Penn State Group funded a water well and were touched by the lives that it changed having fresh water.

Laughter Across Borders

Jeff Civillico (a comedian/ juggler with a show in Las Vegas) and his videographer, Antonio Melendez, visited CCDO and Siem Reap to produce a show that highlights diverse cultures with a common bond of laughter.

They will produce a series that will be shown to bring awareness of life in Cambodia. They visited our schools and health program to showcase the CCDO programs. They interacted with acrobats of the Phare Circus and highlighted Khmer cooking at Khmer Grill restaurant. They generously shared knowledge with our staff on how to improve our video production.
