Today, civic participation occurs at many levels. We make impactful decisions about our community every time we make a purchase, vote, post on social media and, of course, volunteer. We think any awareness we can bring to the many resources that might spur individual action for good, falls right in line with what we’re up to at HandsOn.

Fall into Service
We are celebrating the end of summer and the return of cooler temperatures by getting out and volunteering! This year we launched our new fall volunteer event, Fall into Service. This campaign stretches from October 1 - December 15. The goal is to mobilize as many volunteers as we can while enjoying the gorgeous weather and gearing up for the holiday season.

We've already had a great start in-person with our corporate teams! We've packed basic needs kits for homeless veterans with Plexus, and made Halloween trick or treat bags with Prudential.

We've also been engaging with teams virtually with the HandsOn at Home projects. We've expanded our projects with a new literacy based, Reading Rocks kit and a holiday themed project, Santa's Stockings. Thank you to Desert Financial, American Express, and Prudential for jumping on zoom to give back!

Not sure what to do with your pumpkin after Halloween? Pumpkins make a great treat for pigs, and you can bring yours to Better Piggies Rescue's pumpkin & blanket drive.

Are you or someone you know interested in working in local government or at a nonprofit? Join our AmeriCorps VISTA team! Spend a year working in the City of Phoenix Mayor's Office, or helping to raise community awareness about sex trafficking with StreetLightUSA, or with the Maricopa County Department of Public Health.

Interested in serving as part of the HandsOn team? We are recruiting for an AmeriCorps VISTA Team Leader. The VISTA Team Leader works in the HandsOn office and helps the members navigate their year of service while also participating in the HandsOn service projects. Applicants must have previously served in AmeriCorps or PeaceCorps.
