This Halloween we are celebrating with redevelopment!

We hope your Halloween is as spooky as the Fort Myers CRA Collaboratory Project before it was transformed into a modern meeting campus for people of different backgrounds and interests to come together and exchange ideas.  The former abandon 1924 Atlantic Coast Line Railway depot was revitalized into the cornerstone of Collaboratory's campus with high-tech additions to upgrade Fort Myers' midtown.

The Fort Myers CRA project won the Outstanding Renovation, Rehabilitation, Reuse for Large Cities category during the 2019 FRA Awards program.  Congratulations Fort Myers CRA on your redevelopment efforts and Happy Halloween!

Award Spotlight: City of Dunedin

Congratulations to the City of Dunedin for receiving the 2019 Out of the Box for Small Cities Award for the Amazing Adaptive Reuse project!

The Amazing Adaptive Reuse project focused on revitalizing an abandon Chase ATM on a high traffic street corner in downtown Dunedin. The City transformed the ATM into a self-serve food ordering kiosk known as, Taco Baby. Taco Baby operates on a credit card-only system, making it possible to have one staff member working, while limiting safety and sanitation concerns since no cash is exchanged.

Board Member Spotlight:
Treasurer, Jeff Burton

The FRA would like to highlight our treasurer, Jeff Burton!

Jeff has over 30 years of experience in community redevelopment and has been the CRA director for the City of Palmetto for the last 10 years. Jeff is motivated to create new and sustainable redevelopment opportunities through environmental enhancements and economic growth within his community.

His latest redevelopment efforts are focused on revitalizing an old, abandon storage lot into a modern parking garage with retail space for the downtown Palmetto community to enjoy.

We are excited to have Jeff on the FRA team and can't wait to see what his expertise brings to the entire association.
