YOUR VOICE MATTERS

North Carolina is facing a child care crisis. It is difficult to find or afford quality care. There are roughly 10,000 children on the waiting list to receive child care subsidy. Parents can't afford to pay more, child care teachers can't survive earning less, and child care providers across the state are at risk of closure now that emergency funding to support child care has ended. When parents can't find or afford child care, they can't work, harming the businesses that employ them and putting our entire economy at risk.

Providers and teachers like you can speak personally to the importance of the work you do and the challenges you face in providing this critical care for our families and communities. Sharing your experience matters.

Join MomsRising in submitting a letter to the editor to your local paper for a high-impact action to help save child care in North Carolina! All you have to do is write the letter and it will be submitted for you.

Lawmakers need to understand the importance of child care and we need your help in convincing them to save our state's child care system.

TEACHER'S CORNER

Take a Breath, You’re Doing Great!

Micro-breaks matter. Take 60 seconds to stretch, breathe deeply, or step outside for fresh air.

Hydration is energy. Keep a water bottle nearby — it helps with focus and patience.

Declutter your space. A tidy environment can help reduce stress and make your classroom feel more inviting.

Ask for help early. Collaboration isn’t a sign of weakness; it’s how strong teachers stay strong.

Encourage peer support circles or weekly “check-ins” with colleagues — a five-minute chat can do wonders.

Try journaling wins: jot down one positive classroom moment each day. Over time, it becomes a gratitude record.

Child Care Resource Center. (CCRC) is here — to:

  • Connect families to quality care
  • Train and coach child care professionals
  • Help employers support working families
  • Expand access in underserved areas
  • Use data to shape smart policy
  • Advocate for systems that work for all families

Now more than ever, this work is essential. And we need you.
