We strive to support this mission by ensuring all voices are heard within the human-animal bond community.  Human-animal interactions provide opportunities for motivation, education, and recreation while enhancing the quality of life for both humans and animals.
7 things you can do to make Halloween safer for pets
from the American Veterinary Medical Association

  1. Don't feed your pets Halloween candy, especially if it contains chocolate or xylitol (a common sugar substitute found in sugar-free candies and gum);
  2. Make sure your pet is properly identified (microchip, collar and ID tag) in case s/he escapes through the open door while you're distracted with trick-or-treaters;
  3. Keep lit candles and jack-o-lanterns out of reach of pets;
  4. If you plan to put a costume on your pet, make sure it fits properly and is comfortable, doesn't have any pieces that can easily be chewed off, and doesn't interfere with your pet's sight, hearing, breathing, opening its mouth, or moving. Take time to get your pet accustomed to the costume before Halloween, and never leave your pet unsupervised while he/she is wearing a costume;

Attention all Veterinary Students!

The Human Animal Bond Association (HABA) was founded 27 years ago to advance the understanding and importance of the Human-Animal Bond.  A major focus of our organization is to encourage student participation and leadership in the Human-Animal Bond space.

Students face many pressures and it is easy to forget the reason they chose this great profession. We feel it is important to remind students of the “WHY” they are working so hard by keeping a focus on the Human-Animal Bond.

The scholarship winner is selected based on a short essay and involvement in activities relating to the Human-Animal Bond. All students in good standing are eligible but they must hold a current membership in HABA. The $2,000 award will be sent directly to the student’s school to be applied to tuition and expenses.
