Dear CASA Friends,

It’s almost Halloween and that’s my favorite holiday.

Imagination and play, (usually confined to school yards, living rooms and parks,) spills out over the city in grand scale. Families in costumes traverse their neighborhoods and exchange treats. Carved pumpkins, caramel apples, The Nightmare Before Christmas!

My 3-year-old daughter had “Room on the Broom” memorized by early September, so I’d say I have successful passed on my love of the magic and mystery.

If you need some inspiration for this weekend, here are some food, book, movie and craft suggestions.

Sincerely,
Crystal Burns
Community Relations & Development Director
During Court Appointed Special Advocate training, we teach our volunteers how to spot signs of trauma and to identify triggers. Being “trauma informed” doesn’t always mean knowing about the event that caused the trauma. Sometimes it means being flexible with plans, taking the time to be present with a child who is struggling, and finding new traditions that make them feel safe.

Enjoy some Halloween memories from CASA Staff:
