Dear Providence,
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month! As an Argentinian immigrant who grew up in Fairfax County, it has been my privilege to be the first Latina on the Fairfax Board of Supervisors. Our community here represents the rich history, culture, and diversity of the Hispanic and Latinx communities across the globe.
Fairfax County is home to nearly 200,000 Hispanic Americans, more than 16% of the population, whose immeasurable contributions and stories should be celebrated throughout the year, especially during Hispanic Heritage Month. This annual celebration, which spans from September 15 through October 15, pays tribute to the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched our nation and society. Below you will see some great opportunities to learn, participate, and celebrate with us, including a proclamation being presented by the Board of Supervisors at our meeting on September 24th.
Do you enjoy relaxing with a good book? The Fairfax County Public Library compiled book recommendations for all ages to celebrate Hispanic and Latinx culture. Check out the English and Spanish book recommendations!
