County Revises Mandatory Directive for Construction Projects
Attention Contractors and Subcontractors! To keep workers and customers safe from COVID-19, the Santa Clara County Health Officer issued a revised Mandatory Directive for Construction Projects on December 16, 2020. The Directive is available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Chinese, and Tagalog. Under the Directive, general contractors and subcontractors are responsible for:
· Ensuring compliance on jobsites and submitting a social distancing protocol;
· Reporting COVID-19 cases and complying with contact-tracing efforts;
· Designating a jobsite-specific COVID-19 supervisor;
· Providing PPE and ensuring physical distancing;
· At large projects, appointing a Jobsite Safety Accountability Supervisor.

Without Illegal Fireworks
All fireworks of any kind are illegal in the City of San José because they can cause injury, fires, and pollution, and are a significant disturbance to many. Residents are urged to think of their neighbors, pets, and veterans, and find new ways to celebrate without fireworks. if you observe fireworks use, you can report it online at www.sanjoseca.gov/fireworks or call 408-535-5600 or 311. When filing a report, include as much detail as possible. If able to safely take a photo or video of fireworks in use on private property, you can include a copy with your online report. When sufficient information is provided, the Code Enforcement Division may issue a warning or citation.

With COVID-19 surging, the safest way to enjoy this coming holiday is to stay local and celebrate at home. The stay at home orders in place through at least January 4, 2021 do restrict gathering with anyone outside of your household. And you are encouraged to avoid traveling unless its necessary. Consider taking the savings you would incur traveling and invest in some new comforts or games for the home. Staying home can help stop the spread of COVID-19.
