This month, we're reflecting on the Gifts of Yoga . The greatest gift yoga practice has offered me is patience. Well, I mean to say yoga has provided me with tools to recognize and respond to feelings like frustration and impatience. It’s yoga that makes me stop and reconsider before I honk my horn in traffic.

Yoga helps me to navigate through this world, day-to-day, with breath and mantra and a belief in the proverbial phrase “patience is a virtue.”

Former BYS teacher, Hayley Worthman always said “You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.” She meant this, I think, not only in reference to asana practice, but also metaphorically. It was a simple reminder for me to be patient, wherever I was (or wasn’t). I cherish this advice and teachers like Hayley.

As we head into the new year, may we move mindfully in the direction of our goals and resolutions, remembering all the while to breathe and have a little patience.

Happy holidays to you and yours,
w/ Nicole Zellie Lann
