Happy Holidays!

Hello from Gaelynn Lea!

I hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and warm during the bleakest (and snowiest, if you live in Duluth!) time of the year... As Doctor Who would say, we're half way out of the dark! Warm wishes for a joyous Hanukkah to those who celebrate (it begins tonight!), and happy holidays to everyone reading this! I hope you have some fun or nostalgic things planned for the coming weeks, and that you have a blessed and fun New Year. Paul and I are celebrating Christmas with my parents on the 23rd, and then heading to his folks on Christmas Eve... We are excited to spend time relaxing with family!

In case you didn't know, Paul and I recently returned from Geneva, Switzerland so that I could perform at the World Health Organization for their launch of the Global Report on Health Equity of Disabled People! I was very excited to get to know Haben Girma (who moderated the event) and to learn about how the WHO is addressing disability worldwide. You can watch a replay of the event here!

As you might remember, the last two years I did a Christmas Carol Singalong with my parents... Here's a link to the 2020 concert - with guest appearances with lots of friends! And here's a link to 2021 - with a cameo from my parents' cat. As much as I loved the singalongs, I didn't have quite enough time to pull that off again this year because of the performance in Switzerland. Fear not, we are planning a reboot in 2023!

Nonetheless, I still wanted to do SOMETHING for the holidays, so keep reading for a couple different options to gather virtually TODAY to celebrate the holidays:

Sunday Sessions with Gaelynn Lea: Kevin is wearing a red Santa cap. Gaelynn Lea holds her violin.

❄️ Sunday, December 18th at 2pm CT (noon PST, 3pm EST, 8pm in the UK): This week's holiday-themed episode of "Sunday Sessions" on my YouTube channel features the Minneapolis-based storyteller and playwright Kevin Kling. He'll tell a few of his original holiday stories, which are sure to please! Then we'll talk about how he got started performing his stories in front of an audience, how he uses his art to address disability, and what it's like to write a play as opposed to a single story. I will end the show with a few holiday tunes! Closed captioning will be provided. Watch here: https://youtu.be/XmkUYLiXkx4

This is a light blue graphic for the Patreon-Only Holiday Party on December 18th, with event details in red and green font (December 18th at 3:30pm Central Time on Zoom). It reads: "To get the Zoom link, join Gaelynn's Patreon Team here: patreon.com/gaelynnlea" Cartoon illustrations depict a snowy hillside, pine trees, and a smiling snowman wearing a red cap and scarf. There is a cartoon light bulb in the top left corner that reads "Trivia: Holiday-Themed Pub Quiz!"

❄️ December 18th at 3:30pm CT (1:30pm, 4:30pm EST, 9:30 in the UK): Feeling festive? Come celebrate! The party will include a holiday/winter-themed "pub quiz", so brush up on your general holiday knowledge (hint, especially movies and music), as well as general December factoids so you can help your team win big! We'll also share our favorite holiday traditions, plus my Dad has a few cheesy holiday jokes to share! Basically it's just a time to get together, say hello, and "cheers" in the New Year! That's it for now, my Friends, but I will write more in the New Year! Thank you for your support and encouragement over the years. If I don't see you at today's holiday gatherings, please be well, take care, and keep in touch!
