The design world lost a giant of architecture with the recent passing of Canadian American Frank Gehry at the age of 96. Renown for iconic structures such as the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, his current Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is scheduled to open in 2026. Awarded the Pritzker Architecture Prize, AIA Gold Medal, and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, many are paying tribute and remembering his body of work, including the 12.6-acre living roof on the Facebook (Meta) West Campus (MPK20) and the 3.6-acre rooftop garden on the MPK21 in Menlo Park, CA.
Winding down the year, don’t miss Linda’s video of the “2025 Top 10 List of Hot Trends in Living Green Architecture: Ecological Design for Biodiversity” next week. She presented portions of it this year in Warsaw and Basel, but you’ll be able to see the entire scope of important and always spectacular projects from across the living green architecture world.
Also coming soon, you can hear Linda’s interview by Steven Peck of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities’ “Sustainable Futures Podcast” on Innovation and Trends. By the way, GHRC is offering a Holiday Sale on their Living Architecture Academy Courses where you can save 30% through January 15, 2026.
As 2025 concludes, we at Greenroofs.com look ahead to 2026 with wishes for peace, tolerance, and resiliency. We’re also looking forward to these 3 great conferences: the World Congress of Building Greening 2026 in Berlin in June; World Green Infrastructure Congress 2026 in Barcelona in October, and CitiesAlive Green Infrastructure Conference in NYC in November. Each uniquely different with their own flair for highlighting important issues, we’re happy to be attending and to be Media Partners for each.
Finally, if you’re looking for free credits to end the year, check out those resources in the banner below from our advertisers, whose support we greatly appreciate – thank you!
We hope your holidays bring people together and wish you and your families the merriest Christmas, a festive Hanukkah, joyous Kwanzaa, and a very Happy New Year 2026!
