When the holidays are long gone but your tree isn't, it's time to chip in and donate your used evergreen to our annual Chip-a-Tree initiative. Over the years we have recycled thousands of trees, which probably would otherwise have gone to landfills. This year your tree can join those recyclable thousands.
The free program requires Broward County residents to remove all decorations from their holiday trees (no decorated trees will be accepted), then bring the trees to a participating park - there are 11 of them - where they will be chipped and used for landscaping throughout the County park system. There is a limit of two trees per vehicle, artificial trees are not accepted, and no commercial vehicles or garbage trucks are allowed. Click below for more info.

A new parking rate structure took effect at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). For travelers opting for long-term parking, the new daily maximum rate is $20 per vehicle (up from $15), and valet parking is $30 per day (up from $25). Airport visitors using short-term parking will still pay up to $36 daily, however, it will take less time to reach the maximum short-term (and long-term) rate as the new incremental pricing is based on a $2 charge for every 20-minute parked interval. Additionally, the "first 20 minutes free" grace period for FLL's short and long-term parking still applies. | |
