Greetings!
As we celebrate this holiday season with family and friends, I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your steadfast support of Wise & Healthy Aging. This past year brought significant challenges—from the devastating fires that touched so many in our community to the uncertainty surrounding proposed government spending cuts. Yet through it all, your generosity helped ensure that we could continue offering services to more than 30,000 older adults.
Ken Ripoll is one of them. As a caregiver for his wife living with dementia, Ken has found strength and support through one of WISE’s Peer Counseling led Caregiver Support Groups.
“I don’t know where I’d be without it,” says Ken, who also brings his wife to WISE’s Adult Day Center, giving both of them their own safe place for support and care. “The people in my group have become like family,” he says. “We share our ups and downs, and everyone is there to pick each other up.”
Over the past year, your involvement has directly and meaningfully impacted thousands of clients, many in similar circumstances as Ken’s. Through your partnership, WISE has:
- Served 104 individual clients at the Adult Day Center.
- Hosted 1,315 social activities, classes, fitness and day trips for 1,295 members of The Club.
- Coordinated care and helped 699 individuals access in-home support to safely remain in their homes.
- Provided 26,277 hot lunches to older adults through our Diner.
- Empowered 11,044 individuals to recognize and prevent elder abuse through education, training and community outreach.
- Closed 12,214 cases investigated on behalf of long-term care facility residents in Los Angeles and San Bernadino Counties through our Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program.
- Offered support and counsel to 250 clients and caregivers via our Peer Counseling team.
We could not reach the many older adults we serve without your generosity, and we ask for your continued support. Your gift will ensure that we can continue to help older adults find purpose, confidence, and independence through care, connection, and community. Thank you again for standing with us as partners in this vital work.
Wishing you and your loved ones a season filled with joy, health and peace,
