You Matter this Holiday Season!!!!
By Clara Reynolds, President & CEO

Last month, I wrote about gratitude, and w hi le gratefulness is certainly appropriate durin g the holidays, I wanted to focus this month on another important theme - matterness.  Have you heard of this before?  I was new to the concept al so, but it really struck a chord with me.  Matterness is the deep desire we all have to count, to be heard, and to be considered
important as individuals (www.thenonprofittimes.com).  I can't think of a better gift to give you, our incredible Crisis Center of Tampa Bay supporters, than to let you know how much your support matters, particularly during the holiday season.

You matter:
  • To over 450 families, like Maria and her two children, who will receive gifts and food thanks to your generosity.
  • To over 200 elderly and disabled people in Hillsborough County who will receive gifts delivered by Crisis Center of Tampa Bay staff and volunteers.  Ann is one of these people who lives by herself in Plant City.  Bedridden and alone, she told me last year this is the only gift she receives during the holidays...(READ MORE)

Diana's Story

After 10 years of struggling to support her family amid Puerto Rico's recession, Diana made a brave decision.

She accepted her friend Andrea's invitation to bring her adult daughter and three granddaughters to live with Andrea in Florida. Diana uprooted her family and headed for Tampa.

At first, everything was fine. But after a few weeks, Andrea's husband no longer wanted Diana and her family living with them.

They had to leave, immediately.... (READ MORE)

Spreading Joy this Holiday Season

Deliver Gifts to the Crisis Center
People come to the Crisis Center because they're experiencing crisis, trauma, sorrow or grief. Concerned about having their basic physical and emotional needs met, they often don't have the resources to provide a traditional holiday to the people they love.

For that reason, the Crisis Center launched the Holiday Giving Program. For the first two weeks of December, caring businesses, civic groups and individuals deliver toys, games and gifts to the Crisis Center for families and homebound seniors.

Seventeen organizations have participated in the 2016 Holiday Giving Program. With their support, more than 500 individuals - mostly children - will know how much the community cares about them this holiday season.

To everyone participating in the Giving Program, thank you for everything you do throughout the year - but especially for your amazing support during the holidays!

Celebrating Crisis Center Supporters at The Beck Group

Board Chair, Tanya Hillary, thanks donors at the Holiday Celebration
Hundreds of people in the Tampa Bay area have made generous, ongoing financial commitments to the Crisis Center of Tampa Bay. This includes the many valued members of the President's Circle, Sustainer Society, Legacy Society, Circle of Caring, and Corporate Partners.

Once a year, the Crisis Center is able to express its gratitude to these outstanding individuals and organizations with a special holiday celebration at The Beck Group's rooftop venue on 7th Avenue in Tampa. Thanks to the support of Prida Guida & Company, The Beck Group, Ulele, and John-Edward Alley and Beth Rutberg, nearly 100 guests enjoyed wonderful food, an amazing selection of wine and a great view of downtown Tampa along the Hillsborough River.

Attendees heard from Board Chair Tanya Hillary and CEO Clara Reynolds, who reinforced the Crisis Center's commitment to be the community's gateway to help, hope and healing.

Many thanks to everyone who made the evening possible, and to the many benevolent donors and funders who provide the means for the Crisis Center to be there 24 hours a day for people who face crisis.

'Tis the Season for Giving!

This is the time of year when we provide gifts to loved ones - and to the organizations close to our hearts. Your end-of-year gift helps ensure the Crisis Center will be there to provide hope and healing to people when they face a crisis in 2017.
