When Elizabeth Lord and Edith Schryver sent out their holiday card in 1941, they may have reflected on some of the year's many astounding happenings.
- Pearl Harbor was attacked.
- President FDR began his fireside chats.
- The first TV commercial aired.
- 62 new plants were awarded US patents.
- Lord & Schryver designed 10 Pacific Northwest gardens.
Today, 80 years later, as we head into 2021, we reflect on our different, fast-paced world, with its own unique challenges and achievements. Widespread concerns with health, hunger, and homelessness are difficult to address, yet people are stepping up and tackling these issues in unique ways. At the same time, arts and cultural organizations, hampered by COVID-19 social distancing regulations, are developing creative ways to connect with and serve their communities.
We appreciate your ongoing interest, participation, and support. And if you have not already responded to our monthly donation match or made a one time donation, please consider including the Lord & Schryver Conservancy in your year-end charitable giving.
