Happy Holidays from WISE
During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we are reminded of the many ways that you, our very wise community, support us in our mission.
To those of you who send poinsettias, pears, and cookies to the Program Center spreading holiday cheer, to the WISE Elves who make sure there are presents under the tree, and to the people who drop off gift cards and personal items, we say a heartfelt thank you. We are so grateful for all the big and little ways you join us and support survivors.
Recently, one of our educators shared that after a lesson at an Upper Valley high school, a student approached her to talk. The student shared that a relative is in an abusive relationship and the whole family is very worried. Their friend suggested that they call WISE and ask for advice. The student did, but got scared and hung up. The student said, "But then I came to school today and you are
here
!" The student explained that everything covered in the dating violence lesson was exactly what the relative was experiencing, which was why the student now felt comfortable asking for help.
This story illustrates beautifully how important our Youth Violence Prevention Program is to the Upper Valley. We count on your generous support every year to help us accomplish our goal to end violence, share hope, change lives. Please consider making a gift today.
