Holidays and parenting are difficult enough, then you add different parental religious practices into the mix. How do you help your child embrace both practices without feeling like s/he has to chose?

  1. Don't disrespect the other parent's religion. Help your child explore both religions and embrace the "good" from both.
  2. Encourage the other parent to do the same. Help the other parent understand your religion.
  3. Don't schedule an activity on a designated religious holiday that you know the other parent is wanting your child to participate in.
  4. Resolve all issues behind religion through a parenting plan.
