Lakewood, Bloom at Lakewood is overwhelmed with joy and happiness this holiday season! We wanted to formally thank the Lakewood community that has helped bring cheer to our residents this season. COVID-19 has hit a lot of us hard, and senior living is no different. We have been distanced from family and friends, have had to forego shopping trips and scenic joy rides, even quarantine in our apartments for days at a time wondering if we have been exposed to this horrid virus. We have been fortunate enough to not have any active resident cases since March by putting these limitations in place. Times have changed and we as a Bloom community have had to adapt and it hasn’t been easy on any of us.
When two of our Department Managers, Katelyn and Leslie, reached out to the community, they had a goal that we could get at least one present to every resident this holiday season. These pictures do not even do the gifts we have received justice. So many thoughtful gifts will be given this year because of the community support that we have from Lakewood. We cannot and do not have the words to express the feelings that overcome us. Our residents are about to have one of the best Christmases in recent memory because of all of you. December 23rd will be the greatest gift giving we have done. To see the joy on everyone’s faces is why we do what we do here. To know that the Lakewood community supports us and reminds us that we are not forgotten, even through the holidays.
Special thank you’s go out to Emmie Hutchison and Amy Chodzin with the H2O Lakewood High School Volunteer program whose volunteers from our local high school went door to door collecting donations. To PJ McNerney & Suzanne Weber and the staff for the Lakewood Library Outreach who collected donations from their fellow librarians and community outreach. To God Cares Ministry and Paul Keiper for donating gloves for all residents as well as personalized gifts for some. To Tricia Dent, Cynthia Bender, Teri T & her troop, Pat Loyselle, Lisa Majeski, Amber Voorheis with Cypress Hospice, Maureen Shannon with Hospice of the Western Reserve. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and wish you nothing but happiness and good health this season and into 2021.
Happy Holidays from Bloom at Lakeweood!
