Get to Know Upstate Vet Specialty & Emergency We love to shine a light on our family of hospitals! This month get to know more about the Upstate Vet family with hospitals located in NC and SC. Learn more about the unique features and accolades of these esteemed hospitals that joined Compassion-First in 2017: Upstate Vet has two, full-service hospitals located in Greenville, SC and Asheville, NC. Upstate Vet is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). In 2011, Upstate Vet was honored as the very first recipient of the Specialty Hospital of the Year in North America from AAHA. Twice a year, Upstate Vet hosts continuing education symposiums for the referring community and once a year, a CE event is hosted for local technicians; Each event is free of cost to the attendees. Upstate Vet is host to a feline and canine Blood Bank. Their blood products support their clinic needs and surrounding area clinic needs. Upstate Vet has a total of 24 board-certified Specialists on staff.

Pet Cancer Awareness: Insights from a Veterinary Oncologist A cancer diagnosis for your best friend may seem like devastating news, but veterinary oncology has come a long way, and pets with cancer can now often be helped. Advances made in human cancer diagnosis and therapy are often adopted by veterinary medicine and used in pets. Each November we recognize National Pet Cancer Awareness Month and this year we enlisted the help of Aspen Meadow Veterinary Specialist’s board-certified veterinary oncologist, Dr. Brooke Fowler, who also serves on our Specialty Advisory Board, to answer some important questions about cancer and veterinary oncology.
